Didn't She Kiss A Chick on The OC?: Olivia Wilde
Discuss Ms. Olivia Wilde. She's married to a prince, you know.
I like
this interview with OW from the past spring.
I really like this thread title. It makes me lol.
She seems like a sweet girl. And I can't believe how young she is. She's like 23. She looked a lot older to me.
house_daily has posted pics of OW from an old photoshoot.
It doesn't seem like there's much interest in OW, but just in case,
house_daily has pictures of her from an old premiere and a few magazine shots.
She is a beautiful woman. But the writers, when they get back, are going to have to jump through an awful lot of hoops to get me interested in 13.

I was chatting with a friend of mine that is a big fan of the show. (Okay, I admit, I converted him. Last year for xmas, I bought him the DVDs for season 1 & 2 and then got him caught up with season 3. He's now "superfan.") In general, he has liked this season well enough but said of 13 "wow, they are really trying hard to make her interesting, aren't they?"
I should do a poll. Are people genuinely interested in 13? If so/not is that because of the writers or because of OW?
Personally, I agree with your friend. I think the main problem with her character is that the writers are already trying too hard to make her interesting. I think OW is a good actress - I like her - but the character is somehow unbilievable. Too clever, too dramatic, too much...

I'm interested in 13, but after spending so much time on these boards, I've come to the conclusion that I view television a bit differently from many here. IMO, many people perceive factors like continuity and realism to be more important than they are to me. Acting, pacing, and dialogue are the most important factors in my enjoyment of a show. Completely consistent characterization is a distant second.
Because of past preference, I would say that OW is the main reason that I like 13. I don't hate Cameron, but most of my problems with that character are due to the fact that JM rarely impresses me (although she's by no means terrible). In contrast, I was incredibly impressed by OW when she appeared on the OC. She was acting with far more constraints than JM is now. Her role on that show was completely cliché and her frequent scene partner, Mischa Barton, was notorious for her absolute suckage, but she managed to actually elevate Barton's acting and to generate chemistry with her when, IMO, no other actor had been able to do so. She made that storyline tolerable, which takes chops. I've been similarly impressed with her this season. Where Cameron's dead husband reveal left me cold, I actually was moved by 13's Huntington backstory. Obviously, much mileage will vary.
Per Variety, OW's snagged the female lead in
Year One opposite Jack Black.
I've never watched the OC and I was actually surprised to find that OW is a pretty good actress, IMO. By looking at her, she just looks like another young, hot "actress" with no actual skills but I've been impressed so far, more impressed with her than I ever was with JM. I think she handles the character with a lot of maturity, I believe that this woman is frightened and is going through all of this and that it is what drives her. I never believed a lot of things about Cameron that I think I was supposed to but this is not the thread for that so moving on now.
I don't know if I'm actively interested in 13, but I could stand to see a little more of her. I think OW does drama well. So while I'm not as interested in her as I am in Wilson (I could never be as interested in a character as much as I am with him) I am interested enough in her (and Kutner and I'm coming around to Taub) to be really curious as to how she will function on the team.
house_daily has another OW photoshoot up.
I heard on an entertainment site about the scramble by TV actors to get cast for "strike films" that begin soon and finish relatively quickly. OW was really lucky to get an Apatow project.
I was pretty impressed to see her get that role. I try not to be biased wrt the Apatow family because I know that for every "Freaks and Geeks" or "Knocked Up" there's a "Cable Guy" or "Kicking and Screaming" lurking in the background, but this cast is my kind of Apatow cast. And Ramis cowriting and directing? Awesome.
I like Will Ferrell and I love John Reilly, but these are the guys I prefer. Although putting Rogen and/or Segel and/or Rudd in there, even in a cameo, would make things all the better.
And Ramis cowriting and directing?
I checked out the other credited writers. Both have worked on The Office, which is another point in favor. Even if the film completely sucks, OW really made a smart choice to go after a role with this kind of talent involved both in front of and behind the camera.
