How terrible am I for thinking that story is really fucking funny? More proof that the fashion world is kind of insane.
Ranee- 10-11-2007
Well, then I'm terrible too. Its hysterical (the whole article actually, its in the same style) - the complete inanity of "there's going to be a lot of red carpet." And its subtle in how it addresses its readers - JMo's "an actress who...", not "the actress", never mind the "any camera that came her way" comment (though that's a bit more blatant).

Well, I guess if you're going to be on a hit TV show but have virtually most of the first quarter of that season with a bunch of free time on your hands, you might as well hit every red carpet in and out of town.
It is funny to compare to, say, Hugh, who will openly say that if he had any free time he wouldn't be flipping through the Sunday ads looking for an awards show to attend.

And if your screen time on that hit TV show is going to be greatly diminished in future, you might want to start getting your face and name out there in search of future jobs. I suspect that JM being seen out and about lately might have less to do with the breakup with Jesse and more with the breakup with House.

Wow, um, I'm kind of embarrased for her. I don't really know why, it just seems a little...I don't know, sad.
vitawash99- 10-11-2007
I love the way they make it sound like the stylist abandoned JM in Outer Siberia instead of, you know, expecting JM to do some exploring or what not on her own in Paris while she worked.
(For some really good fashion crazy, I recommend the documentary "Secret World of Haute Couture." In case you ever wondered what a $50,000 dress looked like.)

Yup. I expect Cameron will probably stay blonde, too - that way, viewers get used to seeing her looking like herself before the show ends.

I hope she stays blonde for no other reason than I don't want any more character whiplash than already exists.
But...full disclaimer here: I know jackshit about the world of fashion. Don't really care, either. But I can't work out whether this article is an insult or actually kind of savvy. I mean, fairly well-known designer has clients that bring celebrities to look good in his front row and they bring J-Mo? That can't reflect too poorly on her, can it? On the other hand, I have no idea and maybe this designer is actually a real clown that no one has any respect for. Reading the entire article would probably reveal more of the overall tone, I imagine.
vitawash99- 10-12-2007
I think it reflects quite well on her. The message is that hers is a familiar face, and the designer would want her to be seen in his clothes. (I mean, the guy's not Tom Ford or anything, but he's big enough that a nobody like me who shops at the Gap and reads one issue of French Vogue a year has heard of him. )

She's starting to look desperate going to all these openings.
Poeia- 10-21-2007
I don't think so. She looks like an actress who is putting 100% of her energy into her career. She's on a hit series and, while she has the access that gives her, she's getting press, making contacts, etc.
I don't find it a particularly interesting way of working, but I'd guess that, within the industry, it's seen as smart, not desperate.

Why? Who on earth is even keeping track? It's not like the general public is even remotely aware of these events. Only the rabid fan are noting this. And people in the industry just see it for what it is: pretty girl wearing pretty dresses meeting all sorts of other people that may or may not help her career in the future.

It was fashion week (or month, or however long it is) in LA. Jennifer likes fashion. She went to some fashion events and a Women in Film event that honored, among others, Lauren Bacall. Big deal. It's not like she was out opening a nightclub or casino for a big paycheck. Or running around flashing the paparazzi. Or did I miss those photos?
saara_zaara- 10-21-2007
She also flitted off to Paris for the shows there for a few days.
Is she doing what's the norm? Sure. And I enjoy poking fun at the clothes she & her stylist pick. What I find more interesting is that her work schedule is light enough (plus she's not going home to dinner with JS as the press previously reported was the norm for them) that she's got time to make this what seems to a fairly frequent habit.
olivia720- 10-23-2007
I shouldn't have said she looks desperate. She's a sweet, adorable girl and has a great personality. Actually, I'm always impressed with her spark and enthusiasm whenever I see her interviewed. I'm glad she's able to have fun and wear hot clothes.

So it looks like JM has plenty of time to squeeze in a role in the new Star Trek prequel that JJ Abrams is directing/producing.
So, I'm not a Trekkie by any stretch of the imagination. I think I saw, maybe, one of the Star Trek movies and I actively avoid watching any of the various TV series that seemingly have no end life to them. I am ill-qualified to judge anything about this movie, but it seems from the comments section that most are pleased with her casting...if they could figure out what role she's playing, that is. Then again, I must assume that the audience is made up primarily of men.
