BTW, what's Hyde?

I hate to go OT like this and I'm almost sure I've asked this before, but can anyone give me some good reasons why NCIS is doing so amazingly well this season? It's such a fun show and I'm very happy to see it doing so well, but isn't it unusual for a fifth season show to experience this much of a ratings rise? I believe I read that NCIS is one of the highest rating-growers this season.
Someone at Fox finally seems to have realized that more people might watch House on Monday night if they actually promote it. There were at least 4 ads during the football game this morning. Of course that meant there were no ads for House on Tuesday, because that would be confusing...
Monday: "Mob Rules" @ 8p/7c, followed by Bones
Tuesday: Bones, followed by House 409
I caught "Love Hurts" be accident Thurs. night, so heads up that USA is now airing a vintage ep on Thursdays and last week's episode on Friday, instead of the previous Friday and Saturday schedule.
Someone must like season 4...
HOUSE ranks as FOX’s No. 1 program across the majority of key demos, including Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers; ranks as the No. 2 regular primetime program among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens; ranks No. 1 in its Tuesday 9:00 PM time period among all key demos; is the season’s only Top 5 returning drama to post year-to-year gains among Adults 18-49 (up 18% versus last year’s comparable telecasts); and is the only program to rank among the season’s Top 5 primetime programs across Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

Wonder if the regular PR writers are striking too...
From the Fox press release marykir quoted above:
"He is both shallow and inciteful. "
As are you, Fox flack, as you have incited me to fury over your lack of insight into proper English usage of common words. Eeesh!
ETA: I like S4 too. It's just not what I thought it would be or what I had hoped for, but nonetheless it has grown on me. From the measure pace of early seasons to the rapid, "His Girl Friday" pace they are now using from time to time: unexpected, yet not unloved.

USA shows the S4 eps in widescreen too, which is nice. You just have to be able to get past the occasional creepy pop-up promos at the bottom of the screen.
Can someone confirm/deny a rumor? My friend's TV Guide says that Airborne is showing Tuesday night rather than a new ep. Can someone give me the hard facts?

A new episode won't air until Jan. 29th. Whether or not "Airborne" is Tuesday or not, I have no idea but whatever it is, it certainly won't be new.
Yes, Airborne is tomorrow night. But is that unusual? I thought, writers strike or no, the show was already scheduled for winter hiatus by this week.
*Cries*
Thank you anyway.
TV Guide.com says that FOX is airing Airborne tomorrow night.
Futon Critic is a really good source for
House listings on Fox and USA Network. They update the listings based on the Fox press releases, usually less than 24 hours after the press release goes out.
Cursed (Season 1?) is on USA tonight at 11 PM
It's the one about the little boy who believes he is cursed.
Curious results, in view of the ratings -

Like you, I'd love to beat the PR people with a dictionary. Their flagrant misuse of language is a true insight into their abilities, and incites me to the same fury as you.
Your comparison to His Girl Friday is so apropos. The original play and film, The Front Page was funny and fast paced, but focused more on the callousness of news reporting and on social injustices. The remake concentrated on the frenetic pace, and the comedic romantic tension between Grant and Russell. Both good movies, but very different feel, rather like S1-3 and S4.
