Also on the ratings, I do wonder if the Super Tuesday coverage pulled away some viewers. Those ratings, in the 4-5.5 million range, were pretty terrible for network television.

Also on the ratings, I do wonder if the Super Tuesday coverage pulled away some viewers. Those ratings, in the 4-5.5 million range, were pretty terrible for network television. But people usually watch breaking news on CNN, MSNBC, Faux News, etc. Those channels are the ones that have been getting some strong ratings numbers, according to the story I heard on NPR.

I posted this in the media thread but thought it was relevant here too, as it has to do with scheduling of new episodes: Not sure how reliable this is, as it's from Ausiello. But according to this, there are plans for 4-6 new episodes of House to air in April and May. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Wga-Strike-Favorite/800032698

Okay, after the Fox repeat of Sleeping Dogs Lie tonight, they showed a commercial for next Friday night's repeat of Frozen and said that when it aired after the Super Bowl on Sunday it was watched by 42 million viewers - huh? I thought it was 29 million. That's a pretty big difference. I'd love if that were the real number. Did anyone else see this? They also said next Friday's repeat of Frozen would be a 2 hour event.

They also said next Friday's repeat of Frozen would be a 2 hour event. They are showing Failure to Communicate followed by Frozen.

The numbers they used in SCC promos were way different than overnight numbers -or- numbers in the weekly Nielsen charts too. Maybe they are using the number of people who tuned in to any bit of House, even if it was only for the 1st minute. There was a number floating around somewhere about the number of people who watched any part of the Super Bowl and it was lots bigger than the number reported by Nielsen. Like 40M bigger :)

It might have had something to do with it showing at different times everywhere. On most of the East Coast it showed from around 10:30. In NY it was 11-12 thanks to a news broadcast of overhead shots of happy people in Times Square. Maybe they sync up the correct half hours when the #s are finalized.

It looks like Fox is confused too :) Their House page just says "repeats Friday", which I assumed meant *this* Friday. However, the press release they issued today says the repeat will be the 15th. Yes, that's the same day it's being rerun on USA Network. I believe USA has moved their "Frozen" to Saturday the 16th.

Fox summer schedule press release as posted on Futon Critic has House reruns on Tuesdays starting May 27th, so it doesn't look like the "extending the season with new episodes into June" rumor is true. Actually, the way this reads, even the "showing 4-6 new episodes in April" rumor may not be true...Tuesdays will showcase repeats of "House" at 8:00/7:00c with the new season of "Hell's Kitchen," which bows April 1 as previously announced, continuing at 9:00/8:00c. although the 1st 2 series of HK were only 11 episodes, so I don't know how they are going to stretch that from April 1 to July 8th :?

amysusanne- 02-13-2008

Yeah, that's horribly worded and the math is a little fucked if it's really being considered a summer series. I'm guessing that HK is meant to piggy back the summer shows with the remainder of it's new episodes and, in terms of summer itself, will be paired with "House" repeats where as the regular season episodes will be paired with...oy. Fox press releases make my head hurt.

Fox summer schedule press release as posted on Futon Critic has House reruns on Tuesdays starting May 27th, so it doesn't look like the "extending the season with new episodes into June" rumor is true. I didn't realize there was a rumored extension of the viewing season into June. I thought there was only a rumor that once they geared up to produce new episodes that they would show a few season 4 episodes in April and May and then keep on shooting, starting on the fall's shows and not taking a summer hiatus.

amysusanne- 02-13-2008

It was suggested in Variety (the same day that the Hollywood Reporter said there could be *no* new episodes) that Fox would extend the season past May. Neither story seems to be the last bit based on anything substantial. The "4 to 6 episodes this season" theory/suggestion/statement is what's always seemed to be the most logical action on Fox's part and seems to be backed up by most entertainment journalists and the writing staff of "House".

galaxygirl- 02-13-2008

The 4-6 new episodes this season thing seems to be going around every show I'm reading about.

marykir- 02-13-2008

Well, looking at the calendar, I guess they could do 4 episodes of HK (1 Apr - 22 Apr) 4 episodes of House (29 Apr - 20 May) 7 episodes of HK (27 May - 8 Jul) which seems like a stupid thing to do to HK.
