DOB1234- 02-04-2008

This is saying almost 33 million viewers for the first half of House, which was in prime time: The Super Bowl Post Game at 10 p.m. scored an estimated 68.32 million viewers and a 28.2/57 among adults 18-49, while the first-half of a Sunday edition of House netted 32.78 million viewers and a 14.4/34 in the demo at 10:30 p.m. http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63310451/m/833109001

Those were the early numbers than didn't account for House starting a few minutes after 10:30 eastern. SCHEDULING CHANGE Spread the word to anyone who missed part/all of "Frozen": The Fox House page says "Frozen" will be repeated Friday at 9/8c. Very smart move by Fox...

hughsblues, while I agree that Sarah Conner Chronicles was heavily promoted, House already has a core audience, while Terminator is trying to build a new one (in a strike environment, yet). But I certainly wouldn't have minded a little animation of House, using his flame cane like a cue stick, pinging the NFL logo right off the screen. marykir, thanks for the scheduling heads-up, truly! My Tivo House recording is in two parts, thanks to the local SB coverage. Ugh. Very smart move indeed - thanks, Fox. (Can't believe I said that.)

Yes thanks marykir, I can also get rid of all the excess that I recorded as wary and I sweated it out for 30 minutes in NY waiting to see if we would get the actual show. Thank goodness we had each other.

I might have drowned myself in the Super Punch Bowl if you had not held my hand, my pal! :D

Every time they showed us an overhead shot of Times Square or a bar, I was screaming "you'd better not say 'already in progress' when you start House." Poeia, pleased though I was about the win, had endless footage of ossified celebrants led to the dreaded AIP, I couldn't have been held responsible for my actions. The announced repeat of Frozen would have come too late to save society from my wrath.

I think the ratings are pretty impressive. According to TV Week, "Frozen" was the highest rated scripted program on any network from the past two years, and up a considerable amount from last year's post SP show. This year’s Super Bowl was followed by an original episode of “House,” which earned a record-setting 12.8. "House" was the highest-rated scripted program on any network in two years and was up 29% from last year's post-game airing of "Criminal Minds" on CBS. House had 32.78 million viewers.

I don't know, if I was TPTB, I would be mighty pleased with the ratings. I agree...and I'm sure both TPTB on the show and the network folks are happy with the results because, as marykir pointed out, they had a lot to overcome as far as reasons *not* to watch go. I'm sure the only real disappointment that any of them have (more the "House" folks than the network folks, I would assume) is that they didn't get to do what they wanted to do. But just wrt the ratings, I can't imagine they're not pleased. They did well with a lot stacked against them and even though they didn't get to do their planned two part extravaganza, they still got to air a strong episode in a super prestigious timeslot and people *did* watch.

I'm confused about when FOX is going to rerun 'Frozen'. The FOX main site says it's NEXT Friday (2/15) at 9pm. But isn't that the same night that USA Network is scheduled to air it....at 11pm??

marykir- 02-05-2008

It looks like Fox is confused too :) Their House page just says "repeats Friday", which I assumed meant *this* Friday. However, the press release they issued today says the repeat will be the 15th. Yes, that's the same day it's being rerun on USA Network. BTW, I think that press release also announces changes to when new episodes of Bones return and when House reruns air. eta: final ratings for the week ending 3 Feb... 1. Super Bowl 2. Super Bowl Post Game 3. House (Sun) - 29.05M viewers, 17.7M households, A18-49 12.9/31 4. AI 5. AI 6. House (Tue) - 22.56M viewers, 14.6M households, A18-49 8.7/20 7. Moment of Truth ... Fast affiliate ratings from PI Feedback:Led by American Idol, and opposite a schedule populated with Super Tuesday Election Coverage, dominant Fox beat the four networks combined by 5.43 million viewers and 51 percent among adults 18-49. American Idol opened the evening with 27.79 million viewers and an 11.2 rating/28 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m., followed by House at a very compatible 23.24 million viewers and a 9.0/21 in the demo at 9 p.m. That's down slightly from the same week last year, but I think AI is down by about the same amount. Also, ratings for episodes 312 - 314 (30 Jan 2007 - 13 Feb 2007) have only been topped by the season 2 finale and the post Super Bowl episode.

So the theory is that more people watch House because is preempted by AI?

marykir- 02-06-2008

No, more people watch House when it follows AI. More people watch TV (especially Fox) on Tuesday nights when AI is on. If fewer people are watching AI, there are fewer people to see the coming up next promo and fewer people to leave the channel tuned to Fox during House. I think the core audience of House - the people who don't care that it's after AI - is pretty stable (about 17M viewers for new episodes).

Namaste- 02-06-2008

Also on the ratings, I do wonder if the Super Tuesday coverage pulled away some viewers. I've been hearing stories on NPR and other outlets that viewership for debates and political shows is up dramatically this year -- which they're pinning on the writer's strike and people stumbling into election coverage as the "ultimate reality show." On the scheduling front ... my DVR listings now shows the repeat of "Frozen" for 9 p.m. Feb. 15 -- so in two weeks.
