I would perfer to not have the numbers under the name, but then I don't seem to post here as much as when I was in Japan...so what does that say about me I don't know. I also think we need another Pacific based mod

Hail the Random- 10-07-2007

Yeah. I feel very lonely out here in the Pacific Coast all by myself.

TrooperCam- 10-07-2007

A little bit more Pacific It is a big ocean after all

Hope I'm not intruding but this seemed like the appropriate thread - my apologies if it isn't. With new people joining all the time (yay!) maybe we could have a list of frequently used abbreviations in the FAQ. There must be people wondering what LLB, PDH and BGW stand for or what That Other Place is.

Hail the Random- 10-08-2007

Tagia, would you make it? (I don't know what half the abbrivs are, either)

Taiga- 10-08-2007

(blink) Well, I can make a list of abbreviations, but I didn't mean all the Internet slang. I just meant the ones we use on this board. If you want you could include a link to the Internet slang translator for the other stuff. http://www.noslang.com/index.php BGW = Big Gay Wilson (South Park reference there). Many fans believe that Wilson is homosexual and want to see him come out of the closet, hence posts like "I want a BGW storyline!". BJH = Big Jealous House. Specifically, House being jealous of Wilson's paramours (specifically hypothetical male ones). CCF = Chase, Cameron and Foreman - the original "ducklings". Ham = the House/Cameron relationship. Any mysterious references you see to kosher are probably related to this. Huddy = the House/Cuddy relationship. LLB = Wilson's Long Lost Brother. NPS = Not Poeia Safe. This means fanfiction that contains graphic violence against a character. PDH = Cameron's Poor Dead Husband, who still doesn't have a name. That Other Place = another website where most of the people here used to post. Figure it out.

Good idea Taiga! Many people still use the following here as well: Word! = I agree wholeheartedly with your statement. TPTB = the powers that be. Specifically, the people in charge of the show. BOUO = the red and gray tennis ball that House tosses around. ENB = Evil Nurse Brenda, aka Brenda Previn, RN, the nurse that liked to torment House in S1 and S2.

Taiga- 10-08-2007

Are we allowed to use BOUO? Well we still use 'ducklings', so I guess so. Thanks for the additions, and here's another! BOUO = Ball of Undeterminate Origin, the red and grey ball on House's desk. ENB = Evil Nurse Brenda. The credits give her full name as Brenda Previn. WNJWWHPB = Weird Night Janitor Who Wears His Pants Backwards. He was briefly mentioned in 3.23 'The Jerk' and instantly gained a cult following.

I'm not sure myself. But, someone coming over from that other place may use it, and someone here may read it and not know what it is, especially if they came from elsewhere. We can say that it's not actually our's however.

TrooperCam- 10-08-2007

Do we really have to be so obtuse about terms taken from TOS? It seems that since most of the people here and in the fandom use a pretty common set of terms, the origin of said terms should not matter.

Hail the Random- 10-08-2007

I think BOUO is Other Place property, so we can just call it R&GB(Red and Grey Ball)

radiosweetheart- 10-08-2007

Neologisms entering into the vernacular become the property of the people. /2 cents

Hail the Random- 10-08-2007

Neologisms entering into the vernacular become the property of the people. /2 cents Um...42? Just kidding.

galaxygirl- 10-08-2007

Neologisms entering into the vernacular become the property of the people. /2 cents Too many big words make head explode

Sorry, it's a residual from all those years of edumacation. Pops up at weird times. IMO-terms belong to the fandom not any one site. The internet makes ownership of a word almost impossible to prove. Unless there are facts to back up the possibility of copyright infringement. Even in that case there's the argument for dissemination...I'm doing it again.
