Hmmm, I don't think so, but there are all sorts of nooks and crannies on this forum that I haven't explored fully. ;-) There is a thread (Inexplicted) where you can ask such questions. A character biography section sounds like a good idea. An FAQ for each person. Would save alot of time when people were trying to find stuff out. ETA: I'll ask the other mods if the info is somewhere here.

Namaste- 02-20-2008

I'd be up for a FAQ thing, personally.

fffaw- 02-20-2008

I think its a great idea myself and I know there are quite a few posters here who would be great resources. I've pitched wary's idea to the other mods. I'll get back to y'all.

warycary- 02-20-2008

I know that there are so many of us here with voluminous knowledge on each character, but consolidating it into an FAQ or Bio section would be superb. "House's Bookshelf" or some such. I can't even think how to phrase a search for some minutiae, e.g., how many specifically Jewish articles have we seen at Cuddy's place, or how did we first find out that Wilson may have attended McGill? Ugh, just the idea of trying to dig things like that up drives me straight to the Haagen Daz chocolate ice cream. If not in a section devoted specifically to "research" (my preference), perhaps as a sticky at the head of each character's thread, with one for non-character-specific info, such as PPTH, etc., nailed to some remotely appropriate place. I should think this would be very helpful to those who write fanfic, as well. And save much wear and tear during some of the livelier debates. :)

And if you keep mapping out the structure, wary dear, you may find yourself heading up the FAQ project! ;-) Not all of the mods have had a chance to voice their sentiment on the idea, but when they do, we'll be in touch.

sautomne- 02-20-2008

I love the idea!

warycary- 02-20-2008

LOL, fiddy! I'm still trying to think of an appropriate title for the thread! If we could only figure out the title of the book House is reading in DEC... Or maybe The Gun Seller - where all quibbles get shot down by canon... ETA: OK, tenuous connection, but QI would also be appropriate. At least, such a thread would be Quite Interesting to me.

Boffle- 02-23-2008

I'm thinking we really need a Street Kings thread maybe over in "House Bound No More". With no new Houses till April, there will undoubtedly be a lot of interest in posting as we get new trailers and see more stills, etc. Thanks!

sautomne- 02-23-2008

There is already a movie thread. That would be the appropriate place for conversation about Street Kings.

houserocket7- 04-13-2008

I know "Attica, Attica" was set up for the Writer's Strike but with a SAG/AFTRA strike looming, can we expand it to include the actors' strike, if need be?

Poeia- 04-13-2008

Either that or we'll set up a new thread. Cross your fingers that we won't need one.

Could we have our own set of awards that we vote on, like TWoP has, but naturally just for this show (and this season)? Like who woud win for best use of eyebrows, RSL or OE? Best pairing? Best use of the word "idiot"? Worst outfit? Best guest star? Grossest moment? Fun stuff.

Poeia- 06-08-2008

We did discuss it at one point then real life seem to have gotten in the way and we let it drop. With a long summer ahead of us, it's probably a good time to revive it.

I don't think Cuddy did know deep down that Wilson needed to get away from House. She says after CC fails that she doesn't know why Wilson is leaving and neither does House and that would usually set him off to dig deeper, that was why Cuddy set up counseling because House said that Wilson threw him out twice before and she wanted there to be an oppportunity for them to be in the same room where they couldn't get away so easily to get at the core of the reason Wilson decided to go. Only once Wilson was walking out of CC did she make a desperate try at finding out why he was going but he wouldn't have it. But she herself, on her own, never tried to do that. Maybe because she does know she has no real weight with Wilson. She's never been there before for him in a crisis (with the exception of Amber's final hours) still always more concerned with the effects on House. How could she go now and pretend that it's what Wilson is doing to himself that concerns her. You see what Wilson thought of her being on his side in CC and her reaction, no one was fooling anyone there. Okay, take pity on someone who doesn't text and isn't accustomed to abbreviating everything. I started with Cuddy/Cameron, then Cuddy/Chase, Cameron/Chase, Closed Captioning and finally wracked my brain for an episode with those initials before I came up with Couples Counseling. I know it's technically not chatspeak, but the effect is the same. Sorry Poeia I just don't always have the patience to type out Couple's Counseling especially in a long winded post Embarassed where it appeared several times. In the context of the discussion with no slash included I thought the meaning would be easily understood. Closed Captioning? really? I was grasping at straws by that time. :D In a business paper or a newspaper article, if the writer is repeatedly going to refer to something that is boring to type out, the solution is to type it the first time followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. After that the abbreviation is fine because everyone can refer back to the first example to see what it stands for. For example: Comparing Grey's Anatomy (GA) to Desperate Housewives (DH) makes more sense than comparing it to House. Like DH, GA is an ensemble show. Also, both DH and GA are about sex with each of the regulars pairing up in various combinations. During the first 3 seasons of GA... I'm not picking on filey because a lot of people do it and I don't believe I'm the only person to get confused. This solution just occurred to me and, if people think this would be a good solution, we could add it to the rules. Thoughts?

filex1410- 09-19-2008

I think its a fine suggestion but I'm not sure it requires a hard rule. I revised my post again after the quote you have here to note that I had hardly abbreivited anything else in that post (I rechecked and nothing else actually). So I think this may be more than is required. I too sometimes get confused at the occasional abbreviation, there's one in media from a couple of days ago I still can't figure out. :) If it's that important and I'm hopelessly stumped I ask otherwise it usually comes to me after a few minutes or so which I think suffices. Again I think it's a great suggestion and I'll try to remember to use it in future. But time can also be an issue when posting during the day at work (who me?) and so there will be slip ups. Whether it should be a rule or not is probably not for me to say anyway. I'm just not sure it's really needed.
