House did wear vans/skater sneakers during Meaning (3.1). Also, I think the asics he wore at the end of the third season had a similar design.

Crocs! Crocs are the answer. They're comfortable, easy to wash and dry fast.
The day House start wearing crocs my life is officially over!

The shoes House wore in Meaning (while skateboarding) were Nikes, he also wore them with his suit in Words sand Deeds (they can be seen in the jail scene).

I could be worse. They could put him in Birkenstocks. ;-)
MaryIsobel- 11-13-2007
Iwear Birkenstocks..... :glare:
Seriously, though, bad as House would look in Birkenstocks, crocs would be...just....nooooooo.....
I could actually kinda see Chase in them though.....

Sorry, MI! I just hate men in Birkies. I don't want to see their toes in those things. I can't explain. It's just... ::shudder::
They just don't seem very House or HL, do they? ;-)
And I agree, House in Crocs is no good. I can imagine Wilson might try them for one day in some sort of weird Batali worship moment only to be mercilessly abused by House. :-)
MaryIsobel- 11-13-2007
I've seen lots of nurses in them, white ones--the crocs not the berkies--so I could see Cameron in them wading through the blood in the ER. Chase or Wilson maybe...House, never.
Poeia- 11-13-2007
Are Crocs grounded? If so, they might conceivably replace clogs as the footwear in ORs. But as House doesn't even wear a mask in the OR, I doubt he'd worry about that.

Sorry Silja, but I have to agree with jonne here. House in Crocs would just be... absurd. Ugh.
I agree that runners are very comfortable and easy to walk in shoes. If they're expensive and well made, I think they're a good choice. They're easy to walk in, and your feet don't get tired. They're designed for certain foot types and the insoles are easy to slip out. The fact that House has custom insoles makes complete sense to me, on a fanwank level.

Oh yes, Cameron I could totally see wearing them, with all the lovely pin-thingies, flowers, hearts, butterflies...
In the hospital I work in, I don't see them all that much (thank God), clogs still seem to be the thing. Well, here in Holland, that would make sense of course.
Silja- 11-14-2007
Can I just point out that I wasn't suggesting that House should wear crocs? Thanks. I was replying to the general talk of good footwear when standing for hours or sloshing around in blood and/or vomit.
I agree that House in crocs is...well, it makes the two little men inside my skull (who're charged with connecting the dots) stop and stare dumbly at the image. And then stare some more.

No, supposedly they aren't grounded although I haven't heard of any accidental electrocutions. Health and bleeping Safety are trying to stop people wearing them – without any semblance of success because they really are very comfortable.
marykir- 11-14-2007
Don't crocs have holes in them? I suppose if you are already wearing clogs you aren't bothered by your socks or feet getting wet with whatever ick you are sloshing through...
chickleta- 11-14-2007
They do, marykir, but you can get them without the holes too. I think that part of the allure (besides comfort) is that they are so easily washable.
I have crocs. They're great for babysitting in.
RNwannabe- 11-15-2007
My hospital won't allow the staff to wear the Crocs with the holes in them. Plus, who wants to drip all of that body-ick straight on to their toes? And the ones without the holes don't let my feet "breathe", and generally set me up for all kinds of nasty fungal overgrowth. I don't even find them to be all that comfortable, since the lack of laces for any sort of adjustment leaves them offering not much in the way of support.
I just can't see House wanting to wear Crocs for any reason.

Bur House was wearing an interesting pair of shoes last episode - sneakers of some sort I think. Did anyone get a good look at them?
I only ask this because yesterday I watched an old episode and all I could think of was 'arghh - the shoes' because it was the orange sneaker phase. I know some people like them, but I'm a straight down the middle, buttoned down black black and more black when it comes to sneakers.
I think the problem is that House is always sticking his feet up on the table and although Hugh is cute, the shoes are always the biggest thing in the shot. So when they are all gurgling on about lupus, typhoid, whatever, all I find myself doing is rating the uglyness (or snazzyness) of the shoes.
I have no idea what Horatio Caine or Alan Shore are wearing, but because they always keep changing House's footwear - and it is usually so distinctive - I always get distracted. Although this probably isn't a bad thing as last episode - and between the three of us - we had no idea what had actually happened medically.
