Kittylugnut, where in the world did you find the BOUO???? I've looked EVERYWHERE for one...:(. My collection is starting. I've got a Magic 8 Ball, and one of those pink balls he stole from the kid in Failure To Communicate, but if you can let me in on the BOUO secret that would be great.
Actually, I made it. I found a 5" diameter jumbo tennis ball online and colored it in with red and silver Sharpies.
Ha! I'm gonna do that now, thankies!
^^I thought the blazer was off white, but I'll watch the episode again.
If you're going to make your own, here are a few tips:
Any jumbo tennis ball that you find will probably have writing on it. This can be removed with nail clippers (flat edged) or an Exacto knife. Standard "Duh" warning of "Exacto Knives Are Sharp" applies. Be careful. But hey - if you bleed on it, you can just make that the red side, right?
Unfortunately, the Sharpie ink is not quite 100% permanent on the tennis ball fuzz. If you handle it a lot your hands (or any light colored clothing, or walls you might want to throw it against, etc.) will turn slightly red or grey. Just picking it up shouldn't be a problem, but if you rub it you'll get smudged. I've tried other markers and Sharpie has been the best so far. Do NOT try to coat it with any kind of spray... I've tried everything I can think of from acrylic top coat to hair spray and they all just made a really big mess.
Make sure you use the metallic silver Sharpie and not the grey, which is way too dark. You'll need at least two or three of each color to finish the project. Go slowly and press hard to get the ink way down into the fuzz. It'll take a long time but the end result is worth it. Also, to protect the white rubber barrier between the colors, I suggest using hot glue (a mini glue gun and a few glue sticks can be purchased at most craft stores for under $5) to cover the white while you color the fuzz. The glue will peel right off when you're finished. Then just be careful not to smudge any color onto the white.
Can you tell I've made a few of these? It took a bit of trial and error, but the one in the picture looks really cool in person and I'm very happy with it. Good luck with yours! :D
Danke!
I first must find a jumbo tennis ball though. I'm gonna carry money around constantly until I find one.
I found one at a very large sporting goods store, but I don't remember which one now. It was about $10.
Here it is online. Pretty sure that's the one I used.
How appropriate that it's a Wilson... LOL
Hahaha, oh that's irony right there. Funny if House's was actually a 'Wilson'
House's artwork
Can anyone identify the artwork that hangs in House's apartment? He has a painting or lithograph of poppies and he also has that pen and ink drawing that looks like it might be either Picasso or Miro. He also has some larger pieces as well.
Anyone (with a better art background than mine) have any clues?
sasmom, I have barely seen the artworks in clear photos, but the one I saw recently in the spoiler of the new episode (lithograph, red big spot) seemed like Calder or Tal Coat to me...but I have no idea...(I don't have any art background, sorry. I just love arts in general.)
I'm writing this post because I have read an article on House's set design, and I wonder if they made some artwork for the hospital, they might have done the same thing for House's apartment. In that case, I'm afraid we'll never find out who's works they are...
SET DECOR Magazine (Spring 2007)
In addition to adding high-tech gear to the show’s permanent sets, Berman has also designed furnishings and acquire original artwork to further Hill’s vision for the hospital. “We commissioned artists to create abstract works in the hospital’s palette. Therefore, the artwork almost blends into the architecture,” she point out.
Isn't there a way to ask them directly about the drawings?
Good find on that article. I recently saw the B-roll footage that they filmed via helicopter in Princeton of the campus for the opening credits. Exactly what is supposed to be PPTH in it? And what parts of it are other parts of the campus? Because, looking at that footage, and just now looking at the article, makes me wonder about something...
We have this huge regional trauma center here, and the thing is the size of a small college campus in itself. It dwarfs even PPTH, and this place isn't even a teaching hospital and isn't even fully connected to a university (however, the University of Wisconsin medical school does have some ties up there). How can PPTH hold so many state of the art things within it, have so many specialty areas, and still be so small?

It's affiliated with Hogwarts.

I was going to say the Tardis.
(It's bigger on the inside.)

The walls move. Balconies appear. :)

But extra floors appear when needed (such as the Tardis' storage basement), including when House, on the fourth floor, checks into rehab "upstairs."

And by eliminating security measures.
