I have to admit, I didn't think he looked glassy-eyed at the MTV awards. A bit sad-eyed maybe, but then again, maybe he is drinking more than he really needs because he's depressed. I've always had the impression he was more in love with Jen than she was with him. Mind you, that is nothing but my impression and no doubt completely wrong.
If you compare the MTV pictures with recent pictures, his eyes were glassy and slightly bloodshot. I didn't think he was stinking drunk, but he had definitely been pre-partying.
I have no doubt that he drinks, but I was just suggesting maybe more so lately. It could be from a broken heart, but, it could also be from boredom. I really don't think Jennifer is doing all that well either, but she has to play starlet being a female actress in Hollywood. Her smiles on the red carpet are still too fake.
I had the impression that he was in love and just wanted to get married. She turned it into a whole celebrity couple thing, tried to plan the perfect wedding, the perfect life, and it turned him off to the whole idea to where they started fighting. I have no doubt they both loved each other, and probably still do, but their wants and needs are maybe too different. I also believe they are still together, just very privately. JMHO of course.
ITA. You know, for all he says he's putting on weight, if he is its not a lot & he looks more mature than he used to (& he at least looks less stiff than he did at last year's red carpet, he looked so uncomfortable in that gray suit he wore then).

I thought that was kind of funny that he said that, since I recall some people thinking that he lost weight. He didn't look the least bit plump to me.
His suit is fabulous and he look delicious. I giggled at him saying he was a bit on the heavy side. Huh. Where? And he does look more mature and more relaxed. Maybe the stubble gives him the more mature look? Not that he still doesn't sufffer from baby face. But I've said all along that he's going to age beautifully and when he hits his 30's? LOOK OUT!

That's why I loved the comment! My mother is British, so I've been surrounded by dry wit my entire life, and especially the fondness for drinking. I love seeing stuff like this from foreign actors, because most American actors aren't like that. I also love anything Hugh says, because he's the same way.

LOL. My grandparents were fresh off the boat Irish, so I can relate. There is a sort of wicked sense of humor and fondness for booze that goes with the culture. I do love it when actors seem a bit more light and humorous as opposed to acting like stoic politicians afraid to display any personality beyond the "star/starlet" facade. I do adore Jess's rather zany hyperness, and Hugh's unbelievable wit.

Apparently Jesse used to have his own band, but I don't think he does any more. :( It's too bad, because he is an amazing singer and guitar player. I wish Chase and House could do a duet on the piano, but like that'd ever happen.
