Oh, House. I wish you had taken Nash's case. (And I think part of House was a little ticked that he didn't get to make that catch...) Very nice to see House's compassion, as well as taking the opportunity to let that moment of vulnerability show. Hey, look, Cuddy is a good doctor sometimes. (Also, I thought that nurse looked distractingly *like* the mother. It was weird.) And that baby took being left with a towel on her face surprisingly well. Can Foreman be wasted every week? Please? It's kind of awesome. Those scenes were so funny. Thirteen and Wilson were a lot of fun, too, although somehow I thought they were more fun on their own and not talking about House. Loved Chase and Cameron's scenes - JM and JS absolutely brought their A game tonight. I thought they answered questions and captured the emotions that brought them crashing down. It also gave a hint of some of the relationship that we didn't see, and a real sense that they loved each other. It was an amusingly fitting coda for them, too, considering how they got together in the first place. The music was wild this week. I'm sure that was HL's influence, and a lot of fun.

Another thing I liked--House talking about Lydia instead of Cuddy. If he'd said his love for Cuddy had changed him, I might have barfed as much as the POTW.

I was surprised that it wasn't Stacy, too - but then in some ways, I think pre-infarction is another world to House, and not entirely relevant in his mind.

House was talking about how he has closed himself off and convinced himself that he wants to be alone. Someone made him realize that he has been lying to himself. Considering that he hasn't seen Stacy in 4 years, it would have been a little weird if she were that someone.

radiosweetheart- 04-12-2010

Stacy wouldn't have made any sense. House convinced himself he was better off alone. He obviously didn't think that when he met Stacy and they moved in together right after they met or when he had the infarction and he was obviously deeply in love with her. It was only after Stacy left and he shut himself off that he decided he was better alone.

I feel like the show has kind of forgotten Stacy. I'll be shocked if she ever comes up again. But, add me to the list of people who were pleased that it was Lydia instead of Cuddy.

radiosweetheart- 04-12-2010

I don't know what the writers are thinking as far as Stacy (or if they are) but forgetting exes is both fun and healthy. So is burning their stuff and laughing when you hear bad news about them.

Still digesting the ep, but loved the little tidbit that Chase totally remembers Cameron standing up to her dad when he was yelling at her mom. That's so something Chase would file away.

I really like the episode, but as always could have done with some more Hugh. *Wilson trying to steal that dollar had me LMAO. That Wilson was afraid to get back into a relationship because it might hurt House is interesting. *Stoned Foreman and Taub was too great. and I like what we learned about both of them. *I really like the closure they gave Chase and Cameron. *House and Nash was heartbreaking. I always love it when they show House's vulnerable side. * Final scene between Taub and Thirteen too cool. *Finally it was great to see such a confident Cuddy.

Enjoyed the episode quite a bit. But the true feeling will only come when I see it without the ten thousand commercial interruptions. Was paying a lot of attention to the director's choices (I have a soft spot for the guy!) and found them really interesting. He shot House with mirrors and reflections, it took him a while to reflect upon himself; agree that Lydia being the one who changed him seemed most true to what I've seen in House this last year. Losing Stacy distanced him from people, meeting Lydia brought him back. Now what does he do with that. I too thought he wished that he had made the ddx of Nash, that's at least some of why he was sorry. My only complaint is he didn't hold the close-up on himself at the end nearly long enough. He was stunning there. Great directing of Taub & Foreman, his framing them through the files was intriguing. Loved their fight, the punches looked really convincing. Taub got kind of rumpled tonight and it did his looks no harm, even cuter. And the music was brilliant, much more interesting than usual. Alison! Have to agree that some of that must have been HL's influence/choice. I didn't quite care for some of Cuddy's expressions, she seemed a little unnatural but I don't know if I could say why. Hers was the weakest of the stories imho. Chase and Cam's scenes were the best ever. They really connected and lots of bits got filled in. Maybe they (and we) are all so distant it takes forced contact to break down barriers. I suppose that was the intent of the episode: to change directions with some of the relationships. Without this, lots of those relationships wouldn't be happening.

Loved it. Thought it was the funniest House ever, and yet had some very serious moments. It's definitely going down as one of my favorites. That last bit between 13 and Taub knocked me out of my chair.

piffle- 04-12-2010

Just noticed that the last shot was of the latin phrase "OMNES TE MORITURUM AMANT" etched above a brick wall of PPTH. This translates to "Everyone loves you on your deathbed." Loved that last little parting "shot" from Hugh. Please forgive the pun, I can never resist.

Boffle- 04-12-2010

Thanks for the translation, piffle. I knew there had to be a gem in that, especially after his "ars est celare artem" quote in a recent article. That quote, get ready for it, is the motto of the Cambridge Footlights. Coincidence? source

Loved the Wilson/13 scenes. Loved House acting like the eccentric middle aged genius that he is. Great scenes with David S. And I loved the promo for next week's episode. I just could not believe it. I had to watch many many times to make sure it was what I thought I was :) Mod Note: And speaking of promos, just a friendly reminder to one and all: promos are considered spoilers here, so please spoiler tag them if you are discussing the content or better yet take it to the spoiler discussion thread.
