Some good parts:
Wilson's line "Would you like to talk about it?" was absolutely hilarious. The sort of helpless resignation with which he said it was fantastic. The fact that they're trying to come back to old stories with the biodad thing was good. Also it's nice to know that the leg pain will still be part of the story.
Bad stuff: POTW story had more time this ep but it was still pretty boring and the blogger put me off more than the psychopath. Usually I find the POTW characterization pretty realistic. Not tonight. The Wilson porn thing was a little funny but they played it up too much. House is not supposed to be such a goofy show, in my opinion. And isn't Chase supposed to be in a downward spiral of alchoholism?

I never bought into the whole theory of Chase being in an alcoholic spiral. Yes he got drunk one time, and he made references to getting drunk -- but those were at the same time he was trying to get people to back off from asking him personal questions.
In other news beyond the Unitarian minister ... I find it interesting that Wilson noted that House reads both the Bible and the Koran -- so he can point out their mistakes. I can totally see House doing that.
And "Chapter 2. Bite me."

I have a question. If the unitarian minister has no idea that House is his son, then why would House care if Chase mentioned him or not?
Manicman- 03-08-2010
Chase killed a guy. He has to have some consequences.
And House doesn't read the bible and koran to point out their mistakes. How many Muslims does he know that he can mock? He reads them because he is extremely curious and wants to learn about the world surrounding him.

The minister was a family friend. He would recognize House's name and perhaps contact House or Blythe.

So...House just doesn't want to take the chance of the guy contacting him, because he isn't ready to make that step of meeting him face to face now that he actually proved John wasn't his father?

Alcoholism isn't a consequence. It's not like getting hot wing sauce on your favorite sweatshirt because you're too lazy to get up and find a napkin. Alcoholism is a disease. There has to be a predisposition towards addiction in order for addiction to occur. There's been no indication that Chase is the addict type. At least, there's not enough for me to buy that he'd turn to booze to drown out the pain of losing Cameron. Surely a Coke and a smile would do the trick.

He obviously knows the name because House called him an "old family friend." So if he knew House was asking after all those copies that Chase obtained, it would probably start to raise all sorts of questions. (Maybe he brings it up to Blythe, maybe he starts to do the math himself, etc.)
Chase killed a guy. He has to have some consequences.
He does have consequences. He's been having to figure out a lot of stuff. He had problems doing his job. His marriage broke up. Why does he have to become an alcoholic as well?
And House doesn't read the bible and koran to point out their mistakes. How many Muslims does he know that he can mock? He reads them because he is extremely curious and wants to learn about the world surrounding him.
I have no doubt that House is curious and that he wants to know thing for himself from the original source. But Wilson was the one who said he likes to point out where the Bible and Koran are wrong, and I can honestly believe that House stores away this knowledge so he's ready whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Probably.

In Season 2, House put Wilson's hand in warm water while he slept so he'd wet the bed (which was also House's couch) and you think tormenting Wilson about being in a student film that got edited into a porno later is too goofy for this show?
Chase got drunk shortly after killing a patient (the night Cameron called the cops to find him) and he said he got smashed on Thanksgiving. That hardly makes him an alcoholic.

First episode I liked in a looong time.
I loved concerned Wilson, and I love how persistent he was, too.
I was so relieved that House's secret turned out to be something more deep and meaningful, instead of something humorous. Although, when I think about it, it actually managed to be both ;).
Hm, House didn't deny taking Vicodin. He didn't really answer Wilson's question, just asked him to trust him...could that mean something?
I know many atheists who like to read and learn about religions, it's nothing unusual. That kind of knowledge is not only helpful for debates about religion/with religious people, religions are part of our history and had, and still have, a big influence on our culture and even atheists recognise that ;).
Wilson p0rn thing was a little funny but they played it up too much. House is not supposed to be such a goofy show, in my opinion.
Right? I've been complaining about this for ages! It's been seriously bugging me since season 4.
So...House just doesn't want to take the chance of the guy contacting him, because he isn't ready to make that step of meeting him face to face now that he actually proved John wasn't his father?
Or maybe he wants to finish the book first to see if it's worth to get to know his father?

But those pranks were done in private and remained between the two of them. They appeared much more modest and innocent compared to printing massive posters and involving the whole hospital staff. That's just over the top and not something that seems realistic, as in "real people could actually pull that off in real life".

LOVED this episode. I don't think I've laughed this hard at one in quite a long time.
Porn!Wilson was amazing. I'd would have gave anything to watch RSL film his scene with the antlers on (Antlers, forest nymphs....call back to Dead Poets Society?).
One thing that did kind of bug me about it though....the fact that pretty much the whole hospital staff knew plus with the giant poster displayed in the lobby, couldn't that have had a serious backlash against Wilson's career/reputation as a doctor? Especially if his patients caught wind of it or recognized him from the poster? Although, I'm sure this will all be forgotten next episode.
Chase has become one of my new favourite characters because this episode. The plotting, the snarkiness, the American accent, the fact that he was out-diagnosing House at one point....amazing.
POTW was alright. I think the "psychopath blogger" was taken a bit over the top though. I can't imagine any boyfriend wanting to stick around someone like that but alright then. Loved the beginning of the episode though!

House is the son of a preacher man? I really enjoyed this episode - I thought the mix of the humor, House's search, Chase's doubts and the patient's story blended together well.
I liked the blogger, because I found her a pretty complex character. She loved the interaction of the online world, and found the real world constrained by its real demands. (Like, for real, SOMEONE has to do that laundry.) At the same time, she wasn't immune to the peer pressure of her online community, and aspects of it may not have been as much in her control as she thought.
The prank on Wilson was pretty epic. I mean, I don't know how House can not believe in a divine power when a p0rn flick with his best friend spliced into the leading role just gets dropped into his prank-loving lap. I liked the way Wilson knew there was something up with House's choice of reading and clearly didn't buy it as a piece of therapy. And yay for seeing the assistant again! She's a nice addition to the universe, and I loved that she was also enjoying the prank. (Okay, not sure how Wilson's patients would take something like that...)
JS was really on tonight, from Chase's speed dating slacker to his really shaken up ramble in the locker room (loved House's presumption, as well, that Chase could lose the accent). Having Chase talk to Thirteen was a good choice because Thirteen does not know what was behind Cameron's departure. As far as she knows, it's a normal breakup, typical divorce. Hers is a relatively neutral perspective, which makes for a very different sounding board.
Also, Thirteen pursued by a 30 year old when she was 17? Yikes. And Cameron's favorite book is the Golden Bowl? Interesting.

A little goofy, but I enjoyed it. My only issue is when I heard the character's blogging was a plot point, I knew to expect it to be written by people who feared/disapproved of/didn't understand/grossly exaggerated modern technology, especially social networking technology. So many shows and movies and stories seem to love to sit around analyzing and exaggerating the effects of it to death, as though anyone who blogs is totally obsessed with it to the point of ruining their life. Most people who blog aren't like that patient, but shows can't seem to avoid the Myspace leads to kidnappings, Facebook leads to cyberbullying, etc. etc. plotlines, and I think they're kind of silly and usually inaccurate, so it's just a pet peeve of mine.
