Huh. Not sure exactly how I feel about this episode. Didn't hate it but it didn't capture my attention all that much. Laughed out loud at Taub's suggestion that he had slept with 13. Love him.

The end made me tear up a bit.

Hmm. I guess the nicest thing I could say about it is that it underwhelmed. Oh...and that 13 and Foreman still have absolutely no chemistry.

Chipmunk_love- 01-25-2010

This episode was okay. Nothing really special about it, save for Taub. Taub is always special. My dorm's fire alarm went off during House's visit to Cuddy's office, and we didn't get back into the building until House's conversation with Wilson's clinic patient. Save for clinic moment of awesomeness, I get the feeling we didn't miss much that hadn't already been gleaned from the promo or spoilers.

Every step along the way, Thirteen had a valid medical reason for what she did. After they removed the nail polish and started the treatment for Wilson's, her telling the husband that Valerie was in violation of medical ethics, of the fact that she had been removed from the case. She deserves to lose her license. When the fuck did Foreman go from being the senior fellow (before Chase returned) to being the team leader to being the head of Diagnostics? What makes him such a special snowflake? His charm? (ETA: And what was that with Foreman asking House to "punish" Thirteen? House approves of subordinates challenging him. Foreman is the one who can't handle that. Why would House punish her for being right?) I was convinced that Wibberly was a fake -- that once House told Wilson about writing the letter, Wilson had a guy pretend to be him to make House feel guilty. To find out that it was the real Wibberly playing his own mind games was a downer. I like when there's something to learn about House from the patient. I don't like it when a) it's so heavy-handed and b) wrong. Maybe the people around him don't realize it, but House knows damn well that he has feelings. Did. Not. Like.

Taub is so great. Why doesn't he get more story lines? It's not that I dislike 13 or Foreman, they serve their purpose, but I would much prefer seeing Taub and Chase doing stuff. It was an OK ep. I really hate when evil is redeemed easily, so I'm a little annoyed that crazy bitch got all fixed at the end. I was more alright with House's story, but only slightly. Apologies don't actually fix anything and most people don't deserve them (like Wilberly or whatever his name was) so I don't get why they're such a big part of recovery. No one feels better after. ETA: Actually, rereading that, I think all I liked was Taub.

I loved the song at the end. That's about it. I swear that this was yet another "more 13 than House" episode, but there's no way I'd suffer through it again to time it to see for sure. I would have liked the B plot better if House really had ruined the man's life because it might have served as a real wake up call for House. Revisiting 14 was an awful waste of time. They had no chemistry before and they still don't have any chemistry and there's nothing about 14 that interests me in the least. Along with Epic Fail, this was one of the weakest of the season. I'm really disappointed because Peter Blake wrote it and I usually like his episodes.

I was surprised. I liked it quite a bit and I was expecting a typical middle of the road mid-season episode. Granted the whole psychopath/House bit was anvilly, but HL made it work. The patient, of course, wasn't supposed to be liked. Even her family hated her. Despite that, I felt for her through the conduit of her husband. While pathetic, I wanted it to work for him, so he became the emotional element that she lacked. Also to get the reminders of House trying to do something good and yet still not quite managing, and how much easier it is to toss money at an issue to make yourself feel better than to actually wade in with your emotions. Of course the fact that he was played by Wibberly as much as the psychopath was playing those around her was interesting as well. And I laughed out loud at Taub's "secret" and at House's pretending to work, complete with carriage return. This post apparently comes from the all by my damn self in this corner side of things.

While pathetic, I wanted it to work for him, so he became the emotional element that she lacked. Actually, I liked her. Good actress who played the part quite well. And I thought her husband played his part well -- loving, confused. The anvils and Foreteen's behavior were what I disliked. And I laughed out loud at Taub's "secret" and at House's pretending to work, complete with carriage return. Two true belly laughs.

Chipmunk_love- 01-25-2010

Also, I thought the husband wasn't all that ugly. And a second to loving House pretending to work. Bing!

Gobblin- 01-25-2010

Ah Thirteen, the love doctor..... Although i did totally enjoy her Foreman slapdown. Much love for Taub's cheekiness & House's 'gentle' side. Sorry was there a POTW? Boring patients don't register in my brain & what has become Chase's purpose now?

iamdaffodils- 01-25-2010

I loved the scene in the clinic, and that was where the love began and ended for me. I won't even go into 13 and Foreman. I don't have the energy to beat that dead horse anymore. I'm pretty sure there was a whole act House wasn't even in. And another scene of House longingly watching Cuddy and Lucas together. That really topped it off for me.

OldHamster- 01-25-2010

Was I the only one expecting an apology to Wilson? The scene outside Cuddy's office at the end, where he sees her with Lucas and turns away, reminded me of the season 5 episode (can't recall title) where Cuddy goes to make nice with House, sees him with the hooker/"thespian" and turns away. I expected to like this more than I did. But then, my expectations were raised before the break, with the Wilson and House buying an apt. together thing. I guess I was expecting more development of that relationship (although I'm only a casual/occasional slasher). And this ep. didn't bring it. At all. Nevertheless, Hugh continued to prove that he can act more with his eyes than most actors can do with their whole bodies. And I want to hug House. Again.

Namaste- 01-25-2010

I get the feeling we didn't miss much that hadn't already been gleaned from the promo or spoilers. I'm glad I've weaned off most of the spoilers, and especially the spoiler discussion. I wasn't waiting for this scene or that scene that everyone had talked about, and the whole episode seemed to flow for me. Of course I kind of like Thirteen (sorry, but there are those of us out there), and to me it made a great deal of sense to have her perspective with this patient's case. Thirteen canonically wants to dismiss her feelings and deny her past (right down to preferring a random number to her own name) and even her emotions involving Foreman. So from that perspective, having her be the one dealing with the patient's lies and obfuscations makes sense in terms of story telling. Also, it strikes me as appropriate that even the belly laugh moments from Taub and House both played to the lies and secrets themes of the rest of the episode.
