I'm not sure why everyone is assuming that House was faking being drunk. I thought that he really was drunk and was speaking the truth when he said he loved Cuddy. Then, when he was fed the line about Cuddy and Lucas splitting up he pretended that was his plan all along. Not all of House's maneuvers work out, but he is always ready to pretend that everything went just the way he had planned all along.
I'm assuming the fake out because he was faking hangover the next day. Went from completely hung over talking to Cuddy to bragging to Wilson about how perfectly his plan worked without a hint of hangover the next minute.
Oh, I thought he was probably drunk, but not as drunk as he seemed to be and not as honest as he seemed to be. It was a scam but there was some truth to it. He does love her, but he wasn't admitting it, he was just saying it to further his agenda. It just cracks me up that while House is a pretty good actor, Hugh is such a brilliant actor he can portray not someone doing a bad job, which would be pretty easy, but someone doing a pretty good job but just slightly flawed enough that we can still detect it's an act. If that's not fine and precise work, I don't know what is.
ETA: Just watched "Clueless" again. "Ignorance is bliss" is Cameron's line at the end in answer to House asking "Do I look pleased?" so I'm thinking there might well be some parallel between that episode and this or at least that situation and this one, yet I am too sleepy to figure out what it is. Takers? Anyone?

I think that it's the bet in "Clueless" is that true love does/doesn't exist, and Cameron loses That'swhat she says when she pays off House at the end.
There would seem to be some connection, considering that essentially the episode revolved around love, all between couples. Chase/Cameron, House/Cuddy/Lucas, POTW and his wife.
It was Cameron who said "ignorance is bliss" in clueless, right? At that time, the truth was what he pursues, even if it's bitter and agonizing. I find it interesting that now it's House who said so in this episode. Surely, he has changed.
About the scam, I thought his falling down onto the sofa was fakey. House is a good actor, but can't fake the fall as nicely as Hugh. :D
Ask and we receive. Kind of. Now on twitter, male nurse
Jeffrey Sparkman (aka Patrick Price)
Greg Yaitanes also tweeted a
behind the scenes photo of him.
So, mods, does this mean we get a "Does This Count?" Jeffrey Sparkman thread? Or maybe the quote was: "I think this counts." I don't have the episode available just now.
(Admittedly, I have no idea if he'll return. I just hope he does.)
I hope he does too. We'll wait and see and if he does, we'll give him his thread.
For some reason, your link to his twitter isn't working, Namaste.
He's under his character's name: @jeffreysparkman
I don't think he was drunk. House is an intensely private person and he's a heavy drinker. I think he's probably learned how to deal with the alcohol loosens your tongue issue.
I also don't think he loves Cuddy. Does anyone remember the Stacy arc? That's how he acts around someone he loves. These antics are more like infatuation.House feels something for Cuddy but it's not love.

Personally, I don't think that was even an issue. He broke in, opened a bottle of something, poured most of it down the drain and sipped enough of it so he'd smell like he'd been imbibing when Lucas came in. (He probably applied a little as cologne while he was at it.)
I'm sorry I'm kinda late to the responses, I just saw the episode last night. (Cruise, baby!) I'm kinda meh about the episode, so I'm just going to respond to one thing.
I noticed a lot of people are complaining that Cuddy was going to reprimand Chase about punching House, but never punished House for punching Chase. I would like to point out this was right after he told her that "It's a good thing you failed to become a mom, because you suck at it." She was deeply hurt by this, she even started crying. I don't think that she would have been able to handle herself around House, especially in a position of authority, which he had taken away from her with the insult. I think that's why he never got into trouble.
