I got a definite "I'm in charge here and therefore must apologize/compensate for my underlings screwing up" vibe from her. Maybe she wasn't dean, but 29 is still awfully young for her to be in such an authority position. Unless she was a Doogette Howser, M.D., at 29 she'd be, at best, a resident. And residents don't have the sort of authority she exhibited in "Three Stories."
Isn't there an episode where she talks about being the youngest dean of medicine? Also, last season House said, "A woman in her forties--" and she snaps, "38!" I assumed that she was lying.
I haven't read St. Doris's blog. I really enjoyed this episode, especially drugged!pantless! Wilson. RSL was fantastic in this episode. His slowing down as the drug kicked in (it's a pharmaceutical conference, and you have no idea of how easy with drugs the drug reps are!), his waking up, and that priceless "I need...pants."
I feel like they're laying the groundwork for something later this season, who knows?
As for Lucas, I don't have a problem with the character. Somewhere I read that a viewer was disturbed because of their apparent age difference--when it's the reverse (Hameron) nobody minds.
I loved the coffee shop scene, all of the Hilson, the 80s party, and a lot more. The POTW was pretty interesting, and Annabelle Anastasio did an excellent job. She's got a great camera face.
This season is a big improvement over Season 5, IMO.
ETA: Just read St. Doris's blog. Wow. Thank you so much, chipmunk love!
I wanted to put out a few "Easter egg" theories after Greg Yaitanes mentioned it a while ago on Twitter. I gather "Easter egg" means something that is planted to be found/flower later on. After watching the episode a few times, I came up with this (and it doesn't involve ginger ale):
1) House drugged Wilson. In the scene where Wilson's head went down, I think I saw a pill bottle among all of the other stuff. I tried slowing down the video but it was hard to make it out. Did anyone else see that? I'm wondering that, instead of House's using again being a big dramatic moment, it's a reveal along the lines of the "methadone" plot.
2) The 80s party; my guess is that Cuddy is completely freaked that House has regrets about not callling her and that somehow there is more to this than meets the eye. Her leaving the party so abruptly seemed like an overreaction, unless it's leading to something else.
3) Lucas and Rachel...somehow I think that's going to end badly.
I was going to put this in the speculation thread but it should be on the episode thread. Anyone else care to guess what the "Easter Egg" is?
Maybe the ginger ale has to do with Hugh's Schweppes connection: perhaps they are promoting ginger ale next instead of tonic water. (kidding!)

Well, if House uses the phrase "Schweppervescence" in a sentence we'll know if you're right!
After all, didn't tonic water nearly kill the actor in "Living The Dream"?
Yeah, that's right. It was the quinine in the tonic water, I think. Hmmm.
Maybe Rachel hates Lucas so much she barfs into his protein shake, and he's deathly allergic to baby barf...I can't think of how else a poisoning could be worked into the show.
I'll just say that I don't think the "Easter egg" is really all that much and doesn't necessarily deal with some big thing coming up. It was probably just a passing comment (like the "prequel" comment made to Cameron, when JMo appeared in the Star Trek prequel) and not meant to be a clue.
Of course I may be completely wrong about this.
A thought: the giant Rubiks Cube cake-House with his Rubik's complex, yada yada...could that be it?
I agree with
Namaste. Probably something unimportant but fun, a little nod to the fans.
The giant Rubik's cube, as
sasmom says, could be a call back to 'solving the puzzle'.
Nothing obvious jumped out at me, on re-watch. I tried to see if I knew any of the faces on the 'wanted poster' in the hotel security guy's office. Probably all photos of crew members. Didn't see any props out of place, any visible writing that stood out as important (unless the female names on the name tags, that haven't been picked up yet at the conference, have any significance.)
I gotta admit that my impression of Yaitanes is, that he is/was a bit clueless about what we fans know or don't know about the House universe and the production process. For all we know his easter egg could be the twitter shout out by the PotW.
Oh, an what is this "Stiletto: Warrior Queen of Space" connection? It's been mentioned in this episode and in "Wilson", and Yaitanes has linked to
http://twitter.com/therealkeener in one of his tweets, hasn't he?
Is that a real show?
I believe he was DE's mentor
It's either a show or a movie Keener is trying to get off the ground.
A rerun of Known Unknowns aired Friday at 8pm and RSL did three segs of House re-examined. scene in the diner, sunset scene, Foreman phone call, and HL/RSL. Geez!! RSL is hilarious!
