I cried for house as well. so moving. I needed a moment. I was hoping for a hug or a shoulder pat from W at the psych hospital gates (could it look any more menacing??).
Hugh can do so many amazing things with his face. He can break your heart with one look.
I've been away from this forum for a long time, but this ep made me come back to see what y'all said.

Wow. Wow. Wow.
Kudos to all the people who said tht the final ten-or-so minutes of the last episode seemed out of character and ridiculous. Turns out there was a reason.
I'm...shocked. But so thrilled at how it turned out. Cuddy, ye have redeemed yourself. Good on ya for standing up to House!
sautomne- 05-11-2009
Oh boy! :eyes:
I was relatively unspoiled for this episode. Somewhere towards the middle, though, I figured out that House/Cuddy was an hallucination. I n fact, I think I figured it out precisely because Wilson wasn't being his usual nosy self. But I thought that Carl Reiner was going to turn out to be an hallucination too.
I'm not a Cam/JMo fan, but I thought that the scene in the locker room with Chase was done beautifully.
Seeing Kutner again broke my heart.
As excited as I am for Glee, I had the same reaction! It was a bit of a mood killer.
Kung-Fu Panda redux!

That was the PERFECT resolution to the sperm issue. Chase/Cam can communicate, it just takes them a while sometimes (like many real couples). The wedding was lovely and such a high compared to the low of House going to the psychiatric facility. I liked that this episode wasn't all in-your-face angst like last season's ender. I liked the patients. The last four episodes make me hopeful that next season can be a helluva lot better than Season 4 and the majority of Season 5 were.

Wow. Just. Wow. Doris, damn. That *hurt* like a mofo. But holy cow. I was seriously considering giving up on this show but now I *have* to come back next season. All this lead up was so out there and now it actually makes sense, at least to an extent. I really wanna know how they're gonna fix it. And they better do it well.
I'm just really glad Cuddy didn't take advantage of House like that. It killed her character, to me.
Shades of MASH ftw!
Also, Kutner makes me happy. This ending almost made me cry.
NekoCat- 05-11-2009
Speechless. Absolutely amazing. Doris Egan again shows she the best writer on the show. I'm definitely back next season.
Namaste- 05-11-2009
Just rewatched the first few scenes to get a feel for it with the knowledge that comes at the end. Watching House is chilling. Watching Cuddy's reactions -- the way she moves away from House, the way she literally puts distance between them -- with the knowledge now of what the truth was, and she was reacting to that insult is amazing to see through new eyes. And the work LE had to put into those scenes, being able to play to both scenarios. Wow.
I thought there'd be some hallucination involved, but the point at which it's hallucination, and how they used the lipstick/Vicodin as the McGuffin, so to speak, was amazing.
And to have both Amber and Kutner at the end, about how this is the world House chooses to create for himself. Echoing, to a sense, the fourth season admission that he doesn't want to be in pain and doesn't want to be lonely -- and that's exactly the life he creates here, happy, relatively pain free and not alone, until the walls of that world crack and explode under pressure.
ETA: I can see why it was that Doris Egan kept commenting and complaining via Twitter about the number of rewrites this script was taking. Well worth it, but what a convoluted tangle of thinking and scenes and just the right words of dialogue to play the multiple sides of this story.

Doris Eagan is so gifted. Awe.
How weird must it have been for Chase and Cam to do that wedding scene?? must've been so . . . sad. I don't know. Like, hey look what might have been . . . :(

Kung-Fu Panda redux!
EXACTLY!
St. Doris earned her sainthood 800 ways again. She's so amazing and she has one hella awesome cast to write for.
One hope for Season 6 - if House is going to be in the looney bin, I hope Amber and Kutner go with him (I'm gathering Kutner is a no go unless they did some filming before he left for DC) but damn, bring on the Amber.
spicyride- 05-11-2009
WHOA! Wow, just wow. That was amazing. The last 10 minutes were brilliant. House broke my heart (again) in Cuddy's office.
I'm curious to rewatch now Namaste.

House broke my heart in the last scene. Once again, the beautiful, talented Hugh Laurie conveys what words could not.
But, the end seemed like a cross between No Reason and House's Head. IMHO they could have done WAY better for a season finale, the plot and "twist" at the end was kind of an anticlimax for me (and I was pretty unspoiled for this one except for promos), but they do my interested piqued for Season 6 now. How can House practice medicine after being admitted to a psych hospital?
This also proves that no, not even House isn't completely clean of Vicodin after less than 24 hours. The insta-detox didn't seem realistic because it wasn't. Honestly that was my main tip off.
LightMyCandle- 05-11-2009
I was seriously considering giving up on this show but now I *have* to come back next season.
Word, I was fully prepared to be depressed after this episode and write this off as the worst. season. ever. but then St. Doris comes through at the last minute. I cannot applaud this woman enough. And C/C? Loved it. Loved that Cuddy's actions made sense and that she's not as pathetic as she seemed in the last episode. Loved the H/W.

Word, word, word.
It also made me realize how much I miss Kutner.
The descent into madness . . . oh how Hugh has that nailed. Like everything else. My love for him springs anew.
I hope Doris makes A Lot of money.

Except for the last minute, I was profoundly disappointed in this episode. I just didn't think it was very good, or very interesting. But HL blew me away as reality dawned on him.
The BIG problem for me with Cameron and Chase is that their on screen chemistry is non-existent - watching paint dry is more exciting - and they have been so ignored for the last two years that this wedding tacked on at the end seems gratuitous. I was never invested enough in them as partners to care that they worked it out.

I was not spoiled at ALL for this and other eps. Makes it so much better. I've been out of the House loop for quite some time.
I didn't even know this was the last S5 ep.
this was an excellent ep.
