He did scarf down whatever painkillers Cam gave him.

cindylouwho- 03-31-2009

He did scarf down whatever painkillers Cam gave him. Oh right you are! I clearly wasn't paying attention to Cam. ;) At any rate there has been a decline in the vicodin use over all, at least IMO.

Is it me or did that first doctor sound exactly like Wilson? I could have sworn that was his voice. For a few moments I thought that this was what happened after House's Head, with House in that same T-shirt, and hurt, and that the first 20 episodes were all a hallucination. I even thought that House was not limping in those first scenes. But then they continued with the Taub storyline and LLB and that all disappeared. Still, there were some strange things going on, I felt. Wilson dating, just a few weeks after the 'cupwashing', the bike-accident, the blurry last scene. And after all that the promo, they are driving me into paranoia.

Re House and painkillers - Cam told him to "take two now and two later", and he took all 4 at once, cause I think he said something like "oops" :)

Namaste- 03-31-2009

I even thought that House was not limping in those first scenes. But then they continued with the Taub storyline and LLB and that all disappeared. Still, there were some strange things going on, I felt. I think a lot of the "strange" issue is due to the same fact that we didn't really see House limping very much. We saw everything from the very limited perspective of the patient. House would come into his field of vision, go out of focus, lean back and be out of the field of vision ... He never really got a full "picture" of House, as it were until he'd been there for days and days. He probably even thought what limp he saw (and cane lovers, did you notice the hospital-style arm crutch/cane during the overnight scene at the New York hospital?) could have been due to the accident. He knew House had crashed his bike, and that was it. It was during the non-POV scenes that we got the filled out version of the personal stories going on.

Okay, well if the merchandising people at Fox knew what they were doing, they'd sell those PPTH hoodies. They'd make a bundle after this episode alone. PPTH hoodies would be nice. But wasn't House wearing a Middletown hoodie?

(and cane lovers, did you notice the hospital-style arm crutch/cane during the overnight scene at the New York hospital?) Yep, that was appearance #3 of Aluminum Offset. I've already updated my site (housescanes.com). :D That ending sure did give me a lot to think about. I honestly don't know what I think it means. I have a few ideas, but I can't settle on any of them. I've somehow managed to avoid all the massive spoilers floating around these days so I am totally in the dark as to what's coming, but it feels like they're building up to something big. I can't wait to see what it is!!

Here's my little nitpicky thing that bugs me each week: Wilson's tie. The man paired a black striped tie with brown suit. Come on wardrobe people! Black tie, brown suit. NO!!! I will die laughing if we learn Wilson's color blind at some point. Okay, well if the merchandising people at Fox knew what they were doing, they'd sell those PPTH hoodies. They'd make a bundle after this episode alone. PPTH hoodies would be nice. But wasn't House wearing a Middletown hoodie? I don't know. Hmmm, guess I'll have to rewatch. :) Oh what I go through for this show! LOL Is it me or did that first doctor sound exactly like Wilson? I could have sworn that was his voice. For a few moments I thought that this was what happened after House's Head, with House in that same T-shirt, and hurt, and that the first 20 episodes were all a hallucination. I even thought that House was not limping in those first scenes. But then they continued with the Taub storyline and LLB and that all disappeared. Still, there were some strange things going on, I felt. Wilson dating, just a few weeks after the 'cupwashing', the bike-accident, the blurry last scene. Yes, yes and yes! He did sound exactly like Wilson, and I noticed the no limping thing too. And before this episode aired, I thought maybe we'd learn House had locked-in syndrome because of the similarities...Mos Def crashed his bike, House crashed his, etc., and that somehow by the end, the whole story would turn around and we'd learn that House had hallucinated or dreamed the potw and that it was actually him being treated for locked-in syndrome. Glad I was wrong, but still...it was a little odd.

What bothered me more was Cam suddenly appearing in House's office to tend to his wounds, though. It brought back bad memories of Stalker! Cam! from season One. LOL. My personal fanwank on that scene is that House asked Cameron to come change his dressing. He doesn't like to show his vulnerable side in front of his team, and he knew Wilson and Cuddy would probably give him the third degree about the trip and the accident. We already saw Wilson do that, and I can see Cuddy doing it, too, especially if she is still dealing with conflicted feelings for him. I think he trusted Cam not to ask a lot of questions, so that's why he asked her to tend to him. She might want to ask, but she knows House dislikes her "caring till your eyes pop out," so she wouldn't. But she does care and expresses that in actions, not words -- like referring the chronic pain patient because she thought it would help House. But as I said, that's all fanwank. I'm just happy they got my Cammy into an episode -- it's been a while! One possibility I don't think anyone has raised here about House's blurred vision at the end. Could it have been the result of tears in his eyes?

PlayStereoPlay- 03-31-2009

I thought the episode was great, but I got sick of the patient's perspective after a while (I think the first half of the episode was seen through his eyes). It was a neat change, but I'm glad they didn't keep it through the whole episode, I was kind of worried they would. I did a bit of research on Locked-In syndrome prior to watching the episode, which made me even more excited for this episode because the thought of going through something like that scares the crap out of me. I loved Foreman's little rant to Lee about jewelery and women, he's usually a stoic kind of guy that doesn't always show what he's feeling or his insecurities, so this was a nice change. Cameron's scene was great too, and I'm not even a Cameron fan. I loved how she didn't even seem all too phased or surprised when House took all 4 Vicodin when she was dressing his wounds. And did anyone notice the thing with Kutner and pee? I mean, last episode he peed on House's chair, this episode he finds the diagnosis is an infection spread through rat pee...

Triteness- 03-31-2009

Tight episode. I loved to see a member of the conspiracy that made The Hitchhiker's Guide an unwatchable experience's suffering. Taub's plot felt weird, like it didn't belong, and interrupted what would be a great flow. I wish they stuck with he patient's POV until he was healed, though, since I thought that it significantly cut the cheesiness and made the characters' interactions more workplace-centric and therefore more believable. Still, great episode, best of S5 so far. And House had me with every excuse. They all sounded very plausible. On a side note, I kept thinking that they sould have filmed the pilot like this. The little intro we got about the characters was very interesting.

PlayStereoPlay- 03-31-2009

I actually agree, I guess, about the workplace-centric interactions. It's neat looking at the characters from a completely neutral point of view, and although I read somewhere about how the House/Cuddy "I'll tie you up" thing near the beginning wasn't well received, I really liked it -- it's the only completely-unbiased opinion (I think) we've heard on their relationship. I'm really excited to see what happens with the House/Psychiatrist thing next episode, and I hope all this Taub crap ends soon. The massive troll on him in 5-18 was funny, but other than that it's just getting boring.

Namaste- 04-01-2009

Two things on rewatch: Kutner said early on that House told them to talk to the patient and keep his mind occupied. Then House pulls the digital recorder out from under the pillow, at the end, so House was obviously taking advantage of the patient the whole time for his spying purposes. Also, the "Save the cheerleader" comment. Hee.

jonne- 04-01-2009

I just realized Kutner was not in the beach scene, but there were pictures of Kal on the beach a while ago. Was he just visiting, or will there be more beach scenes?
