Speaking of cat noises, poor Wilson. LMAO That's a new classic moment.
Lord, that had us laughing for a good 30 seconds afterward.

I didn't like this episode at all. I just don't particularly like Taub, and I really don't care about his money problems or whether he quits or not. He doesn't interest me at all.
I liked Judy Greer, but that was about it.
What bothers me most is all the storylines from the last few episodes just disappeared. I liked Big Baby through The Social Contract, not including the 14 stuff, and I liked all the major storylines in them, Cuddy and the baby, Wilson still dealing with Amber, House and methadone, and of course Wilson and Daniel. All were really interesting to me, but it just bothers me that all were just dropped. This episode just seems like a totally different show, completely unrelated to the last four episodes. I really wish there was just a little more continuity, especially for the House and Wilson storylines.
I liked it because of that. As I mentioned in the "Spoilers" thread, lately there has been a LOT of heavy stuff going on: the whole Huddy thing, the baby thing, the Wilson's brother thing, the methadone thing....it was time to throw a lighter one in and focus on the medicine and the mystery instead of turning it into a soap opera. I think the timing of this episode strikes a good balance. I'm sure the other storylines will get revisited, but there's other things going on in life too, and we still need to see episodes about those.
As for Taub, he doesn't currently interest me, but I think he could if he were developed more. Maybe they're heading in that direction with whatever is going to go on with him.

There was one scene where the kitteh definitely looked like she was trying to get away from HL (Kitteh, please! You are in the arms of Hugh Laurie and you're trying to escape?! I'll trade ya) - that was some realistic cat behavior. But yeah, I'm sure LE would have something to say if animals were getting manhandled.

House had the cat in the elevator while Wilson and other people were in it, and the cat started making noise. He looked over at Wilson and said "Wilson please, it's just not cute anymore!'

House had Debbie shoved in a bag and he and Wilson got on the elevator where someone was already standing. Debbie was making frustrated cat noises and House said something that insinuated that the noises were coming from Wilson.

Yeah, it does make sense that they would do a lighter episode after all the drama of the last few and before the ending episodes. Actually this one reminds me a lot of Airborne in S3, and that was even before I remembered that a cat was very important in that one too.
But I did learn the answer to something that I had been wondering about. Wilson has two huge plants in his office now, one by the door and one by the balcony door.
I find that very interesting, I admit.

House, Cat Carrier and Wilson were in the elevator with another person. The cat started growling and House said "Wilson, I've told you before that is not funny."
To me, this was very like an S1 or S2 episode. House was the main focus and the secondary focus was character development for one of the fellows. And the other supporting characters had good scenes. Because they're up to 9 regulars, somebody got left out -- in this case Cameron -- but it was much more balanced than it has been.
In theory, the first half of the season did that t except that the supporting actor who got the secondary focus was always the same one and, in some cases, she got the primary focus. For me that threw the balance severely off. It's nice to see them coming back to some equilibrium.
Peter Blake actually writes good Chase. When I was looking up what JTTW meant I noticed that he also wrote Cursed and The Mistake (as well as Maternity, Babies & Bathwater, Safe, Fools for Love, Alone, The Itch) and he co-wrote Whatever It Takes and House's Head/Wilson's Heart.

The writers seem to have gotten used to the new format and to balancing everything/everyone out. And quite frankly, I don't know what Cameron could have added to the episode that every single character hadn't already said. So, all was well and balanced (and becoming continually so).

Reason the episode was enjoyable (IMO): It was about House and the team, and the diagnosis, NOT about angsty stuff between House and Wilson, House and Cuddy, or 13 and Foreman. This is what makes it seem truer to the first couple of seasons. I hope they continue down this path.

Agree that the new format is working better. Disagree that they are balancing the characters. They're achieving this balance by leaving characters out, which seems to imply the opposite. JMO.

OK, I take it back about Kutner being too goofy. Just saw the episode. He rocks.
One other quick thought. Hugh's blues eyes were front and center most of the episode. Whoever did the lighting deserves a kiss.
This was a throw-away episode for me and I am sure they are preparing us for what is to come down the road. As I said before. A calm before the storm.

I think my favorite part of the episode was actually 13's horrified look after she found out the "cat" peed on House's chair. That just made the episode for me.
Much in favor of the direction the writers are turning. The last few episodes have been really good.

They are working with the new format better: there is a better flow, but I still hate it. Too many breaks. But nothing to be done if that is what they have to do.
I agree with Poeia that they are balancing the characters better, but not in a divvying up time in every episode for every character kind of way. Other than the overemphasis on 13/14 for much of the season, the continuing character emphasis has rotated from ep to ep. That is, you'll have lots of Cam in one ep but none in the next two, which seems better than trying to have a little of each one in each ep. Lots of Wilson in a few to really flesh out a situation is better than him popping his head in every single time. I'm probably the only one that thinks at least two of the new characters will be gone one way or another by the end of the season, if not all three, so I'm thinking that in retrospect the season will seem mostly balanced in terms of character development, except for the unlucky number.
I think it was a lighter episode but we were certainly set up for some fallout for Taub and Kutner. And the opening with the shark, etc. was genius. Lots of little things, not least those gorgeous blue eyes, flowed together well: I think I'll enjoy rewatching this one. Loved the kitty too.

The H/W elevator scene was hysterical, especially the expression on Wilson's face and the guy who turned around to stare at him.
I also loved the H/W scene in the morgue. Apparently House's team goes to Wilson a lot.
Loved Taub and Kutner. Chase's scene with the patient was awesome. Chase did a similar thing with a patient in Damned If You Do.
We learned that Foreman is a senior fellow. Kutner and 13 in the close was perfect.
I was so pissed when they showed scenes from next week's rerun. I hated and still hate Joy with passion.
The only parts I've rewatched were the H/W scenes and the Taub scene at the end. Taub seems to be teetering emotionally. Not good.

So was I the only one completely weirded out by Kutner tasting the fake blood that House spewed all over him?
And I don't know, but if I sat in pee, I think I would have noticed it long before House did.
I loved the episode, just saying...
