I didn't like this episode at all. I just don't particularly like Taub, and I really don't care about his money problems or whether he quits or not. He doesn't interest me at all. I liked Judy Greer, but that was about it. What bothers me most is all the storylines from the last few episodes just disappeared. I liked Big Baby through The Social Contract, not including the 14 stuff, and I liked all the major storylines in them, Cuddy and the baby, Wilson still dealing with Amber, House and methadone, and of course Wilson and Daniel. All were really interesting to me, but it just bothers me that all were just dropped. This episode just seems like a totally different show, completely unrelated to the last four episodes. I really wish there was just a little more continuity, especially for the House and Wilson storylines. It's weird because to me, Taub, is my favorite of the newbies. 13 is boring and Kutner is a little too goofy for me. That scene with Taub in the morgue hitting the ball was priceless. What can I say. I do hope he isn't the one to leave. Wintertide, remember it is calm before the storm. I think they are throwing in a light episode because we have some intense ones to follow. I don't believe for one moment that Daniel is a dropped subject nor do I believe the Huddy is over. I see them both clearly coming down the road.

JTTW I'm horrible with acronyms - what episode are you talking about? (Peeps, please try to spell episode names out at least once in the post for us old folks with bad memories! Thanks.)

Death Cat would be a great band name. But it could be confusing if you did a double bill with Death Cab for Cutie. True, but it'd be the perfect co-headline with Alpha Male and the Canine Mystery Blood. The PotW reminds me of someone I know. Physically and personality wise. I actually was a little unnerved at how similar they are. Again, because House is a documentary. Doesn't the show usually swing into high gear right about this time of the year? Last year there was the same basic feeling of "welcome back writers, why'd you stay away so long?" Wasn't there? The tail end of the season is always more intense than the beginning.

I'm horrible with acronyms - what episode are you talking about? I'm sorry, it's a bad habit. Joy to the World is what I was referring too.

"Joy to the World" -- I think. (I'm bad with abbreviations, too.) I'd like to think that the lack of continuity in this ep. is just an aberration. "House" has always struck a good balance between continuing story lines and self-contained ones. Works better for syndication down the line and avoids those pesky comparisions to "Grey's Anatomy" and soaps. But this was one of those times I was left disappointed that an episode ignored an important development from an earlier one; I was really hoping we and House would get to meet Daniel this week.

Doesn't the show usually swing into high gear right about this time of the year? Last year there was the same basic feeling of "welcome back writers, why'd you stay away so long?" Wasn't there? The tail end of the season is always more intense than the beginning. I tend to think that's the issue they have just because they take a long time setting up the story arcs they want to tell and you get frustrated, but then they eventually pay off. (Part of the reason why I've maintained that nearly every arc they've done is too long, because they take too much time establishing the groundwork.) Add to that the whole six act format this year, and you had an extra long set up with them grappling with the structure. But of course in this, it works because we've already seen Taub's marital issues, his money issues, his willingness to tell House to back off, his previous scenes asking if he's happy doing good working for House professionally when it irritates him on personal levels ... That background laid down throughout the season then comes into play to explain why he'd be intrigued by the offer, why he'd be open to even hearing about it, why he missed his old life, etc. As to the patient ... I kept looking to see if her breasts were even </Arrested Development reference>

OK, cat lovers everywhere, was that cat real? Obviously, it was in many of the scenes, but in some of the closeups where it was just sitting, it looked fake to me. But, I'm not a cat person, so maybe I just don't know what cats look like close up.

radiosweetheart- 03-16-2009

maybe I just don't know what cats look like close up. Close up, acts look like beasts of hell who wish death upon you (and they can wait...oh yes, kitty has all the time in the world...) and/or cuddly soft face fluff balls of pure love. Depends on their mood. Pretty much like Death Kitty looked.

fffaw- 03-16-2009

I'm sure Death Kitty did not enjoying being shoved into various backpacks even if it was Hugh Laurie. As lovely as my cat is, I'd probably be killed in my sleep if I attempted that sort of action.

That's one reason it was bugging me to watch them handle her.

fffaw- 03-16-2009

I'm sure they added in the growlies because that cat woulda torn their shiz up if it was that pissed off.

Gah why does House have to keep explaining EVERYTHING?!? I find the dialogue so boring now - his character no longer seems all that intelligent. He spends half his time lamely psychoanalyzing everyone to the point where it's ridiculous. No one spells everything out like that - it's taking away from the character IMO. It gets worse each week. I ended up turning this off halfway through for the first time ever. Even though the acting of the POTWs has been better and so have other aspects, the constant obvious explanation dries up my interest.

But, I'm not a cat person, so maybe I just don't know what cats look like close up. The close-ups looked real. From my experience with cats, they'd be more likely to need to CGI the stuffing-in-a-backpack/carrier scenes than the sitting still ones. I had a sweet little angel of a kitty who turned into the Tasmanian Devil when put in a carrier. The one I have now just flails, then whines once she's in. I've met few cats who willingly allow themselves to be stuffed into a container of any kind. But then again, I've never owned a cat who was trained for showbiz. Death Cat did remind me of the original icanhascheezburger.com kitty.

Housewhore4- 03-16-2009

That's a pretty calm kitty. Most put up a little more of a fuss when they're being handled by complete strangers, even the best kitties. My cat Rocky is a saint and loves every human being he's never come in contact with before, but being held that way, he wouldn't make noise, but he'd be constantly struggling to change positions or get out from your grasp. I'm pretty sure they used a doll at some points. Not when we saw the cat in action, but when they'd do cuts back and forth with House talking to Wilson while putting the cat in the bag, pretty sure a doll was actually placed in the bag and not the cat, that would get some yells from PETA, and probably Lisa since she's a big animal rights advocate. I'm sure the cat was handled fine and, since it is a "stage cat", probably was more flexible that most in the grand scheme of things.

extra_cat- 03-16-2009

Maybe. It reminded me of trying to shove one of my own cats in a carrier--not mad enough to attack, but mad enough to say, "I am not amused." Speaking of cat noises, poor Wilson. LMAO That's a new classic moment.
