A very fun episode. Loved the opening sequence, the whole Rube Goldberg thing that reminded me of the thing House did in Spin. And the shark was priceless.
Second ep this season where a patient has tried to convince House there's a higher power - hmmmm?
Deathcat is such a great name.
House has swithced to orange suckers?
And Kutner was just made of win tonight.

A receptionist might have keys to get into the office at night after everyone else has left -- a temp wouldn't.
Depends on what kind of building. My office has a keypad entry, everyone knows the code. So, it's not out of the question. I don't, however, know where my boss keeps the good booze.
That made me so sad. I'm just glad he didn't lose everything to that guy. I hope he gets a break soon. He seems so bummed.
Y'know, cuz this is a documentary and he's a real dude.

Death Cat would be a great band name.
But it could be confusing if you did a double bill with Death Cab for Cutie.
Not necessarily new themes presented in tonight's show, but they were presented in a very entertaining way. Kutner is made of win. (And showing support for Taub was very sweet. Even the cynical Taub was won over a bit.)
I do think that it's appropriate that Taub, of all people, would be in a place where he's really questioning what he's doing. He's been at the top, he's less prone to take House's crap (Kutner has alternative ways of getting even, of course). Taub needs to figure out what's important in his life. He told the researcher in "Greater Good" that he does more good with the job there, though he's not necessarily happy, so there was more worth in what he was doing. Too bad for him he was the victim of a con man. (Better this guy than Bernie Madoff, I suppose. At least he hadn't made the investment yet.)
Also, more evidence that they've finally adapted to the six act structure, in terms of writing, directing and editing. So much smoother than the first half of the season was in terms of flow.

I thought this episode was a lot of fun. Lots to enjoy. The opening=awesome. I laughed out loud a few times. Except of course at Taub. Well I kind of did when he brought the pastries in (even thought it was sad). Poor dude. I have bad feelings about him.
And Kutner! Love that guy.

What a great episode. I loved the opening, House is such a kid. :)
Glad to see relaxed scenes with House and Cuddy and the House/Wilson interaction.
I almost had a heart attack when House pwned Kutner when they were looking for the cat. I thought for a second that House was going down (again).
Orange lolipops? Hmmm. I wonder why the change?
Oh Taub. :(
sherlock21b- 03-16-2009
House as Blofeld mixed with Goldfinger...too awesome (even if the cat wasn't white).
And some relevant mention of Chase and belief--fabulous.
I think there was a tad too much Taub, but I'm willing to give a little on that point because the ep was pretty good--and he isn't 13 (of which there was thankfully little).

I really liked this episode as well. For me, this was Old School House. This was the juvenile House and "mother" Cuddy. This was the obsessive, brilliant, driven, more than a little crazy House. This was the sentimental when no one's looking House. BRAVO! House IS still in there.
I really loved the intro and the cranberry juice scenes, particularly.
One thing I didn't quite get was what Wilson said during the autopsy of coma guy. How could he NOT know what House was doing? House was being House - looking to solve the puzzle (which of course he eventually did). I don't see how it had anything to do with proving he did or didn't care. The way I see it, true, it would have been just as fitting if House had been browbeating the patient into doing whatever he thought was right, but it wasn't at all out of character for House to be looking for answers.
Another refreshing thing was this ep was a little more lighthearted. Don't get me wrong, I love the deeper House/Cuddy and House/Wilson interactions, but there is too much of a good thing without balance. This episode was refreshing and perfectly timed; leaves us wanting more of the heavy stuff without bludgeoning us with it.
And did I seriously miss something, or is next week really a repeat?

Yes, it's a repeat, and no one knows why at this point. Grr.
In terms of Wilson, I think his issue with the autopsy was that it was House having to prove he was right about the cat. The puzzle had ceased being about the patient (if it was the patient, he'd be the one up there talking her into or out of the procedure, rather than delegating it). Instead, it had become solely about proving that the cat was wrong and he was right.
As Wilson said, people put up with House's extremes (or at least he does) because that insane curiosity saves lives. In this case, it had nothing to do with saving a life -- or at least it apparently had nothing to do with saving her life. The very fact that when House solved the puzzle his first reaction was to brag about it to Wilson, rather than stop an unnecessary and risky surgery, is a good indication where House's mind was at.

I made a mental note, and I think it was Peter Blake. But then I saw HL's eyes and lost all coherent thought.

I didn't like this episode at all. I just don't particularly like Taub, and I really don't care about his money problems or whether he quits or not. He doesn't interest me at all.
I liked Judy Greer, but that was about it.
What bothers me most is all the storylines from the last few episodes just disappeared. I liked Big Baby through The Social Contract, not including the 14 stuff, and I liked all the major storylines in them, Cuddy and the baby, Wilson still dealing with Amber, House and methadone, and of course Wilson and Daniel. All were really interesting to me, but it just bothers me that all were just dropped. This episode just seems like a totally different show, completely unrelated to the last four episodes. I really wish there was just a little more continuity, especially for the House and Wilson storylines.

Could it be because of the NCAA tournament?

Just because they didn't figure in one episode, I don't think it means they were all completely dropped. 14 didn't feature in this episode and you just know that hasn't been dropped. ;-) Seems like they're just spreading the focus around a bit. I'm in favor of that. I'm sure they'll revisit these things in upcoming episodes. I mean we've been complaining for years about LLB being forgotten and danged if he hasn't shown back up in Season 5. We waited 4 years to hear more about that story - I don't think they'll drop it again.

My gray cat, Max, spent the whole episode curled up next to me in bed. Should I be worried or am I just really warm?! ;-)
If they do anything to Taub, I'm going to be seriously bummed.
My black cat, Carlos, jumped up on my bed and started purring and cuddling when Debbie made her entrance, interesting :P
Overall, awesome episode! First thought: very "old school". As someone else pointed out, the concentration on the medicine and putting the POTW front and center as opposed to all the other background mishagoss made it feel like the good old days. Wilson and House actually conferring about patient problems, the team members (besides Taub) actually focusing on solving the case and not diverting to "Oh my God, are you still sleeping with Foreman?" BS. Thirteen was barely noticeable today, that's what I liked, she was a doctor for a few scenes and that's it.
Kutner, oh how I love that boy, he's growing on me more and more each week. The superstitious banter with House was classic. Who else's heart almost skipped a beat when House started "ailing"? A+ :P
I'm curious what's happened to our writers, because they've gone from verging on insanity to top notch quality in just a few short weeks. Bravo on another great episode, and to Blake for writing it. It's unbelievable the change in quality when the characters are handled better. House and Cuddy are no longer uncharacteristically killing each other and playing 12 year old games, but doing their usual exchanges, witty comments by House, and Cuddy actually sounding like she runs a hospital putting the clamp down on House. Such a novel idea. Let's keep this up, writers, the latter half is looking good.

Not a week from today. The first rounds will be over on Sunday.

It was Peter Blake. I was surprised and worried when I saw his name pop up seeing as how he wrote that craptastic JTTW, but I pretty much forgive him. This one was much, much better.
This season has really picked up during the last few episodes now that they've really backed off on 14, Huddy, and baby, I hope it stays more or less like this.
