Wilson and Amber would have been together at the time the card was written, at the most maybe 2 weeks or something? I doubt Amber wrote the card. Perhaps Wilson uses neater writing when writing the card. Maybe he even wrote different to fool House, as a surprise? As far as baby names, I hope Cuddy lets the girl or the family choose the name or have some input. I am having a hard time thinking that the family is just going to walk away from this child permanently.

Cuddy should give the baby a name that takes into account her origin. Anyone know a name that means "convenient plot twist"? Or maybe Amber. It would be a suiting tribute to the dear departed. \thank you, I'm here all week

Poeia- 12-10-2008

I wasn't suggesting the gift was from Wilson and Amber but I can imagine Wilson spending a large amount of time getting the wording just right. Too sentimental and House would belittle the gift and the sentiment. So, as he tossed the 10th version of the note, I envision Amber either dictating the note or grabbing a card and pen, writing it and handing it to Wilson to attach to the gift.

Hmm, I heard a rumor from somewhere that I have no idea how it appeared because it isn't based on any fact I know of, probably just speculation that the baby would be called Rachel, don't know if that is a spoiler so I colored it white just to be safe lol I don't know, even though I think Joy is a nice name, not sure if Joy Cuddy fits so well.. has a weird ring to it when I say it for some reason.. See you, Fernanda

Namaste- 12-10-2008

Do we know if the original Joy's mother kept that name? There's really no reason why Cuddy couldn't name this baby Joy, though it would be slightly creepy (shades of Salvador Dali), and if the other baby is still named Joy there could be the Jewish tradition against naming children for people who are still alive. Could be. I don't know for certain if that tradition would hold here.

I like Poeia's take on the note. :D House and Wilson calling each other by last names is their thing, and I'd like it to be preserved even just in my own mind. ETA: I think the gift is from Wilson, and even the sentiment; I just would really love for him not to have used "Greg." On a humor blog, someone RPing as House said House never opened the present from Wilson "because you put "Greg" on the tag. I thought it was some kinky gay porn, and I wasn't ready to take that step." *** My guess is that Cuddy will stick with the name Joy for the baby. Unless she keeps the name the teenager mother gave to the baby.

I believe the tradition of naming is different (IIRC) between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. I believe that Ashkenazi tradition is to name for someone who has passed and Sephardim name for someone who is alive. Can someone clarify? sasmom? However, Cuddy strikes me as more of a cultural Jew than anything else, but in terms of children, etc. some people can lean towards the traditions they were raised in.

As long as Cuddy doesn't go for some recently overused name such as "Madison" or "Addison" (no offense to any Madisons or Adisons on here ), I think it'll be fine. I'd just hate for that kid to go to kindergarten with 47 other little girls with the same name. Actually, it's funny. One of my very good friends is pregnant, and I was recently able to convince her that Chase and Cameron make excellent baby names. No, I'm not obsessed...

fernanda1702- 12-10-2008

I don't know, I think it's a bit weird to name the 2nd baby as Joy too.. Maybe just the way I think, I was looking for 1 puppy for my mother and had gotten one out of a shelter, but his owner came back, I had named him already and the owner had another name for him, but i couldn't name the 2nd one that is ours now after the same name.. So for babies, in my opinion it's even stranger. She may not "look" like a Joy.. Well just my opinion as I said, and it is speculation. :) Fernanda Edit: Lol Chipmunk_love, they actually are pretty good names :) Robert and Cameron I mean, not sure about Chase though, never seen anyone with their first names as Chase..

Not that I know anything about anything when it comes to Judaism, I do know that the tradition of not using the name of someone who is still living is practiced by all of the Jews I know personally. At least, all the Jews that I know personally, who have named children. I can't speak for the one who hasn't. Tho I suspect he would pick a truly unique name: like "Oshit Ihavakid" I suspect out of respect, Cuddy would keep the name the mother gave the baby. If she gave the baby a name at all. (Which is to say: What dee said)

I certainly hope this baby has a normal name. No Apples or Pears or Sky Meadow Blue Pink or whatever is the rage nowadays.

I have a friend who is of Sephardic lineage and they named their children after those who are living. ETA: Ah, it can go both ways for Sephardim: http://www.jewishgen.org/sephardic/differ.HTM

Ow comeon ... kid had to die for Cuddy to get this baby, I m guessing they ll go with ... Natalie As that's a Christmas-related name, that's quite a good idea.

fffaw- 12-10-2008

Ooooh, nice one, reckless. That would be good.
