I love House in teacher-mode like in the differential when they were all clueless. Thirteen’s snark was basically “I don’t want to think. Just give us the answer.” And he refused to, even if he had to drag the answer out of them.
One of my favorite House-modes. It's so subtle sometimes, but he's always leading them to the end of his "thought process" isn't he? The socratic method at its best.
When Cuddy was sitting on the floor, just before House knocked, and she was in an oversized sweater with her hair pulled back and minimal makeup and her eyes were red – damn but that woman is gorgeous. And I take back all the negative things I said about her acting range after Fetal Position and Airborne. I don’t think she did great work in either of those, but she was wonderful in this episode.
I agree--both about how gorgeous LE was in a scene where she was made to seem realistically bedraggled and with how well she pulled off this episode. I thought she nailed all the complex emotions Cuddy was feeling about going through that adoption process, with that grief at the end completely believable--and the combination of anger/confusion at how House had acted. What I loved about their kiss was the jumble of confused emotions both had with led the spillover into a kiss--that neither can either deny or go with completely. The underlying emotions and the set up were very realistic for both real life and for both characters. The kiss was raw but real. It's a great fallout from the Bus to Hades.
On my first viewing, I was jarred by the kiss and didn't think it grew out of the circumstances. However, in rewatching it, I have changed my mind and think it works, and is very raw - and the susequent fight by House in particular to bring himself under control again is really awesomely wonderful.
One thing I've so loved about the show over the years is that most (alas, not all , IMO) of the episodes bear repeated watchings. There's so much going on intellectually, emotionally, visually. And this episode has grown on me as I've watched for a third and fourth time. Yay!
Funny thing. Did House utter the words "I love you" at any point in this episode? I believe the only time he ever said those words in the series was to Wilson, after he shocked himself. But in the promo, here in Brazil, it was shown the kiss (great way to give away the ending) and House looking at Cuddy with a voice-over of his "I love you". They have misplaced it, for sure, but did they really take it from a different episode just to make the promo more interesting? That's very weird.

He said it to Stacy in Three Stories right before he was put in the coma.
He said it to Cameron in Need to Know (so he could get the swab for the HIV test.)
Those are the only other ones I can think of.
Right, I forgot about those. It's not Three Stories' because of the tone. Still, mighty bizarre that they clipped it into the promo from another episode.

Oh, Triteness, I was also intrigued, and annoyed, and bitter by the Universal`s clip – but it is for The Itch, not Joy – and the fake ILU.
I rewatched S4`s 97s, and they used the ILU that House said to Wilson. It is really bizarre, pretty much like almost every of their House`s clips, where Wilson seems to be a non existent character
The Itch? Really? Then that means even the kiss was taken from a previous ep. Man, they go wild with those promos, don't they?
