Even though Wilson wasn't mentioned at all and there was no pining, I can't help but feel that the stuff with Taub and his wife, and the patient of the week somehow relate back to House and Wilson. (I could be delusional. But humor me :P )
I'm of the same belief. While needling Taub began as a distraction, it quickly became an issue of House projecting himself and his relationship with Wilson onto Taub's relationship.
He began by trying to get Taub to consider what the relationship meant to him, whether he could trust his wife not to betray him, but once he considered the ramifications of telling the truth, he actually went out of his way to tell Taub not to do it -- not to tell the truth, but instead to keep a relationship that was already good and already working for him.
That whole subplot, in its way, was House dealing with Wilson, without mentioning him by name.

Way to stomp all over my personal canon, show.
I so wanted to believe that Chase and Cameron were history, based on the bowling scene, when Chase spoke about her in the past tense ("Cameron HAD this insufferable friend ..."). And if they weren't over by that point, I'd hoped they had broken up over her refusal to tell him whether she slept with House.
But the cat line scuttled that; they're still together. Damn.
And I refuse to believe that House was a cheerleader and never played lacrosse. It's such a perfect sport for pre-infarc House -- brutal but elegant. If he was on the cheer squad instead of the lacrosse team in college, I'd like to continue believing that he played lacrosse in high school, youth rec league, something. Or he did the cheer thing for only one year to please the girl, then got back in the game.
No Wilson. No Cameron. No fair.
And since this is a spoiler-free thread, I won't get into what the promos for next week's episode did to my fic-in-progress. Oh, my God! They killed Chapter 6! You bastards!
(BTW, mods, is there a thread to discuss spoilers specific to the next-episode promos? I want to rant about this without being exposed to spoilers for later in the season.)
Anyone else notice the irony in Garfield's master having a "hairball"?

My DVR cut out the promo :(

So, is my being a Harry Potter fangirl seeping into my interpretation of why House said the problem was hiding "under the stairs?" Because Harry Potter originally was shoved into the cupboard under the stairs and bezoars are mentions a few times in the book series...
Anyway, I didn't even realize Wilson hadn't shown up until I saw that there was only ten minutes left, and then I was kind of thrown off kilter waiting for him to appear. He wasn't really missed in this episode, but it just isn't right not having him around. I really am liking the PI, and anything to bring more Cuddy is great.
13's right hook is now the most interesting thing about her, though. (That's somewhat unfair, though, since she really wasn't annoying this episode at all.)
Count me in for thinking that it was the Bones diner.

I wasn't clear why House suggested to Taub he not go home for a few days.....
So that, in the immediacy of learning all this stuff about his wife, Taub wouldn't do something stupid--like confess to her that he's cheated on her for years with various women
I liked that Cuddy seemed to be happy with the flirtation going on between her and the PI, but he just seems too "young"-looking/acting or inappropriate in some way, for her.
The actor who plays Lucas is 35. Lisa E is 42. I don't think he's too young for her, but YMMV.

I think it was clear that House DID play lacrosse in high school. (Cuddy said he told her that he had. No reason to think that was a lie.) He just joined the cheering squad for a while in college in order to get close to a girl. But yes, I agree with you that it was probably only for a short time... one lacrosse season (or less).

I really liked this episode. The PotW had a good story, the newbies' layers lifted a bit, and generally it was really entertaining.
Okay, I didn't find the Cuddy/Lucas scenes adorable. He was setting off my creep alarm like mad. (Also, dude, grunge ended over ten years ago. Catch up.) Cuddy was glowy and he was trying to be charming, but I was just like, ew, ew, ew. So I was glad that in fact...there really shouldn't be much chemistry. But then ew, ew, ew go away is generally my reaction to the PI, to the point where I'm trying to figure out if he secretly resembles someone who grabbed my ass on the subway or something. I liked the blues scene, though, that was awesome and fun.
Also, Chase's scene, while brief, totally cracked me up. As did the fact that Kutner is in the Guinness book. Thirteen punching the patient was also made of win.
I must admit I didn't really miss Wilson. House can have two friends, yeah?

I did not. But this is awesome. :D

He's not too young in the technical sense, but he conducts himself so awkwardly. And visually speaking they are not attending the same party or something.

I LOL'ed. Lisa E.'s real life boyfriend is like a decade younger than her.

Anyone else notice that 13 did one of her "clever" little introductions of House yet again?
(And I put the word clever in quotation marks above to indicate irony, as I don't think she's clever at all. She sure tries hard though.)
There was still too much of her in this episode.
Otherwise though, I loved the episode.

Well I choose to believe House DID play lacrosse in high school or college, because it not only seems like a perfect sport for him, but also because he seemed so into the lacrosse game at the end of Paternity.

Unfortunately, no. Just the spoiler discussion thread.

Also, I loved fake 13 and fake Taub. Great way to show that the patient was seeing things all out of whack.
deelaundry- 09-30-2008
I liked the episode; the medical mystery was fun.
It was kind of a waste of Breckin Meyer, I thought. He's got a cute, funny style and he got to use... none of that. They probably could have hired an unknown and gotten just as much out of him, given the type of acting required.
By the way, Johns Hopkins really has cheerleaders, and they really cheer lacrosse. (Googled it because I was suspicious.)
"Yes, Hopkins has cheerleaders. And they're a dedicated bunch: 15 undergraduate women who offer their non-academic hours to supporting Blue Jays football, men's lacrosse, and men's and women's basketball."

Yeah, if her introductions of House are going to be a running gag they can stop now.
And as far as episodes that have the right amount of 13 in them: Any episode from S1-S3.

I'm actually all for younger men/older women and, as pointed out by nightowl and vitawash, Edelstein's only a few years older than the PI actor
- my problem really is that he acts young and I just think she'd like a man who's either more professional - wears a suit for instance, or is more mature in his whole being (like the man with whom she had dinner but no overnight, thanks to House's shenanigans).
