Bedawyn- 05-12-2008

Hmm. Good episode, but not quite as great as I expected. Loved the hypnosis scenes, and I'm not a Huddy fan, but I loved that scene too (especially the "your own subconscious ignored you" line). I liked the woman in black scenes, and yes, the final crash scene was impressive. And the rest of it was good. It just wasn't all I was hyped up for. I found the sending-him-home-with-a-nurse bit hard to believe, since Cuddy had been talking about admitting him only a few scenes earlier. And if Cuddy and not Wilson was with House that night, then where was Wilson that he didn't notice Amber's absence for all that time? And I think the "who am I/what's my necklace made of" bit was overdone; a few less repetitions would have been great, but they, well, overdid it. And I'd been looking forward to more of the neat scene-cut/perspective-shift/weird-camera things that they did in "Three Stories" and "The Mistake"; they did a little of that in the hypnosis scene, but I would have liked more. I'm actually not looking forward to the finale, for one reason: SPOILER I don't believe for a minute that House and Amber were having an affair of any sort, and I suspect I'm going to want to hit Wilson for most of the next ep. Which doesn't mean, of course, that it won't be a great episode or that the suggestion was wrong from a storytelling point of view -- if it wasn't great tv, I wouldn't care what a moron Wilson is or what accusations he makes. Ooh, thought of one more thing. Although none of them were the focus of the episode, Wilson, Cuddy, CCF, and the new ducklings all had good bits. If they can balance all them well -- plus the bus driver, the woman in black, and Amber -- in an episode that focuses on House, then there's no reason at all they can't continue to do the same in the future. Of course, whether they choose to do so or not is still up in the air.

I don't believe for a minute that House and Amber were having an affair of any sort, and I suspect I'm going to want to hit Wilson for most of the next ep. Neither do I. As for wanting to hit Wilson, this season has been a new thing for me in that I haven't wanted to hit Wilson for a long time. If next week makes me feel that way, it'll be like old times again.

I also really liked the hypnosis, and found it ironic (or convenient) that Chase "accidentally" blocked the memory of Amber from House. Okay, so I'm a little bothered by that plot point, but you know, it happens in Hollywood Land... I don't believe for a minute that House and Amber were having an affair of any sort, and I suspect I'm going to want to hit Wilson for most of the next ep. Word. They're definitely using Amber as a way of telling a story about Wilson. But, we finally get to see more of how a relationship with him works, especially when he is needed by the other person. Wilson needs needy. Amber is now needy. And why didn't Wilson think to try to keep getting in contact with Amber? You would at least think another colleague or someone would be calling around trying to figure out where she is, especially if she's listed as a Jane Doe. She can't be working at Princeton General as she obviously wasn't recognized - they'd know her at either hospital if she worked at PG. So, is she working at PPTH or in a private clinic in the area?

Bedawyn, I believe Cuddy sent House home with a nurse (and a guard, and an IV and blood pressure machine) because if he was at the hospital, even as a patient, he'd still be running around trying to solve the case. At home he couldn't do anything but rest and make phone calls.

I don't believe for a minute SPOILER that House and Amber were having an affair of any sort, and I suspect I'm going to want to hit Wilson for most of the next ep. I agree. I fear that we're going to be seeing a lot of Self Righteous Wilson in the next episode. And that's my least favorite kind of Wilson.

Hey guys! Just joined this forum because I have nowhere else to rant about House to. I must admit that it took me a while to figure out that the woman was referring to Amber. I haven't seen the beginning eps of S4 or most recent ones yet, can someone explain to me why Amber's leg injury is so significant? Bedawyn- Agreed about the balance! It seems like everyone got their own moments. *coughCHASEcough* :D

And why didn't Wilson think to try to keep getting in contact with Amber? Well, he tried once and other than that, I'd say he was too distracted by House. As for someone she works with trying to get ahold of her, she was only on call, it's possible she never got called out. My mother is on call all the time and sometimes, she's never called out. It's all plausible to me.

i found that it was odd that wilson didn't notice amber missing either? :S,considering that one whole day passed (hence the night house was supposed to be sleeping and cuddy babysitting) hmm, also, we finally found out 13's name, was it her name..? headley or something

Taiga- 05-12-2008

plumboo, Amber was injured in exactly the same spot that House is - her right leg.

Bessie Mae- 05-12-2008

Plus, Wilson had no reason to think anything was wrong with Amber. He didn't even know she was on the bus, did he? As far as he knew, up to when House remembered, she was safe at work.

IHARTHUGH- 05-12-2008

I definitely need to see this episode again - since I had no idea about the ending (although I wondered if we'd see the bus crash), I was flummoxed when I saw Wilson beating on - what? - House's chest!!! The whole collapse thing, after the collapse in the tub - goodness, House isn't going to live to be a very old man what with all the abuse he gives himself. And the terrifying experience of the bus careening out of control - and House's humanity - "stay with me" (one of the only times this season we've seen that!!) Was a bit disappointed with certain riffs from the past - like the above-head camera angle used when House experiences great head pain - similar to the shot in the show in season one where he gave himself a migraine. Lovely to see barechested Hugh! Yum.

And sorry to say this again, but Hugh is so gifted and awesome at acting. Yay for him getting mono back in the day.

fffaw- 05-12-2008

Welcome plumboo. I haven't seen the beginning eps of S4 or most recent ones yet, can someone explain to me why Amber's leg injury is so significant? Basically, in many ways, Amber is the female House. There's a whole thing with House and Wilson where House tells Wilson "You're sleeping with me! So they parallel each other - House's right leg is injured, Amber's right leg is injured.

By the way, anybody else think of the movie "Frida," and the way they shot her bus crash when it came to finally seeing the crash behind Amber? Immediately. Frida Kahlo is one of my favourite artists and I love that film, so between the bus accident and the pole (even though it's through her leg, rather than her abdomen) brought "Frida" to mind right away. Right now I just want to know what happens and am cursing my lack of time travelling abilities.
