4.12 Don't Ever Change
A rather fitting title for what is quite possibly the last episode of Season 4. It' always about 'change' in one way or another with this show, isn't it? But yes, is this the last episode of season 4? Let's hope not. It's ok everyone, take a deep breath. You heard Gloria Gaynor - we'll survive this. As long as we know how to love... you get the point. THAR BE SPOILERS BELOW, MATIES HOUSE TREATS A NEWLY-CONVERTED HASIDIC JEWISH WOMAN AFTER SHE COLLAPSES AT HER OWN WEDDING ON "HOUSE" TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, ON FOX House and the team encounter a woman admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro after she collapsed at her wedding. Her test results come up negative for a variety of common diseases, which leads the team to suspect foul play. When they discover the woman had been a music producer living in the fast lane until she converted to Hasidic Judaism, House insists that people do not change so easily, and that her seemingly rash decision may have something to do with an underlying condition. The woman's husband insists that House treat his wife for her illness, rather than for her past, but she continues to fall dangerously ill. The team must run through all possible diagnoses without disturbing her newly found religious beliefs before it is too late. Meanwhile, House is preoccupied by Wilson's newly-outed relationship with a woman whose personality is remarkably similar to House's in the "Don't Ever Change" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Feb. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/ PT) on FOX. I am so proud of House right now. I have never loved him more and I just can't seem to stop grinning. :D

DrSpaceman- 02-05-2008

That's it. Season can be over, hell, the series can be over as far as I'm concerned. They will never, ever improve on this episode.

Aw, that was actually quite sweet. A self-sacrificing House? Being nice to Chase? Interesting discussions between the newbies? Wilson and Amber potentially having some kind of happiness? (And House allowing for that happiness?) And let's not forget: "You do it both ways, right?" The fact that it seems to confirm a lot of what I've felt about the season -- that House has been moving into a better place emotionally, than he's come to accept if not embrace change -- is just frosting on the cake for me personally. Not a knock-it-out-of-the-ballpark big one like "Frozen," but quietly and effectively emotional, at least to me.

I am so proud of House right now. I have never loved him more and I just can't seem to stop grinning. :D It was great, wasn't it. I absolutely love Wilson and Amber together. I absolutely loved all the hoyay, especially their conversation in the hallway outside their offices.

Two awesome episodes in a row and now we're left wondering when next we shall see the team at PPTH. Life is so unfair! House loves Wilson. Kutner continues to be adorable. 13 loves the ladies. Taub does...a thing. That episode made me happy. Hap-hap-happy.

During one of the last DDX scenes, House said Wilson is doing the opposite of what he usually does, and that the treatment (i.e., House's reaction) should be to do the opposite of what Wilson expects. So House drops the whole shenanigan and lets Wilson and Amber be instead of continuing to harass them about it. I was hoping that "doing the opposite of what Wilson expects" was to grab Wilson by the face and kiss him.

I was hoping that "doing the opposite of what Wilson expects" was to grab Wilson by the face and kiss him. It will happen. It will. But first Wilson needs to get this out of his system. BTW, they are living together now?

Taiga- 02-05-2008

What a wonderful way to leave the season! I loved House being willing to let Wilson be happy even if it means sharing him, loved that Wilson is trying to change, loved that Amber really is dating Wilson because she likes him, loved that Kutner is a sci fi fan (even if he was overdoing it with the references), loved that Thirteen is bisexual and that explains the mystery, loved Cuddy being a friend to Wilson for I think the first time ever, loved Taub getting some screentime, loved that I liked the PotW. Essentially I loved it. I hope Wilson and Amber stay together for a long time! How unlike this show, to end on the note that people can change. And House actually grew, so great. BTW, they are living together now? Ah, that's the one thing I didn't like. That's repeating a bad pattern, rushing into things after four short weeks. But you can't expect someone to change all at once.

By having House tell Chase that he needs him, Doris has earned her "Saint" title in my book. House/Chase scenes have been so few and far between this year. How predictable is it that 13 is bi though? And Kutner... I think I could like him because he's geeky and I like geeky characters, but I can only understand about 1 out of every 5 words he says. It's like he's got marbles in his mouth. The House/Wilson conversations were brilliant. I LIKE that Amber didn't take the job. For a second there I was thinking, "Please, God, not another one!" Since we've had a Chase-free episode and a Cameron-free episode, can we please have a 13-free episode? Pretty please?

NightOwl- 02-05-2008

Yes, it seems Wilson moved into Amber's place. galaxygirl (and anyone else), do you really think House made this move in order to "set Wilson free" to show Wilson he loves him... and eventually BE WITH him? ETA: And if so, how exactly does this fit in with the title "Don't Ever Change"? I'm sorry if that's a dumb question; I haven't really processed this episode yet. Maybe I'll be more coherent when I've watched a few more times. MOD NOTE: Edited to change bold paragraph to normal text. One or two words in bold is fine, but the statements all in bold are reserved for mod notes so that you can see them. Thanks, Fid

That was quite a good episode. I almost choked, though, when House referred to himself as Dr. Y***h. Now that we know that Thirteen is bisexual (which many of us predicted), I wonder if we'll find out that she's dating someone at PPTh. And Chase! Yay! I was so happy when House told Chase that they needed him.

Yes. Absolutely. I'm very happy to see W/A together and will happily ship them, but I'm a die-hard H/W girl. I hope Wilson and Amber stay together for a long time! Me too, I *heart* them so much, it's scaring me. I haven't felt like this about a on-screen couple since Veronica and Logan.

Namaste- 02-05-2008

I'll be interested to hear what some of the more religious members on the boards think of their treatment of the couple. I thought it gave them and their beliefs a lot of respect. Sure House mocked them, but he mocks all religions, but neither them nor their beliefs were made fools of, from what I could see. (Well, other than that ugly beard.)

Ending scene was made of sweet. "Shabbat Shalom, Wilson" ::melts into puddle of Hamster goo:: And I loved Taub in this. I didn't give a Steve McQueen's patoot about him before now, but it was lovely how his outlook changed from "she's a crazy religious nut" to "they've got something there."
