NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No! No! It's Not Lupus!!!! I can't believe they did that!!!! Grrrrrrr! It's not supposed to be Lupus! Those evil writers, they've soiled a perfectly good House-ism.

Recall that it was never vasculitis until "The Mistake." I don't think anything's been ruined.
This episode got a rewatch here tonight as we attempt to clear off the DVR, and I have to say, I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. I loved Steve Valentine the first time around, and enjoyed his performance even more this time. And you know, I didn't notice Foreman too much the first time around, but he was a hoot in this episode while messing with the Newbs.
The thong bit was stupid, but I laughed anyway, and I sincerely hope that any outtakes from the "YOU'RE NOT WEARING ANY UNDERWEAR!" scene will show up on the blooper reel for the season. (Although due to last year's blooper reel, I now crack up at the sight of the foosball table.)
Thirteen creeped me out a little, but I think she was supposed to, so that's okay. I was sympathetic to what she was feeling about her potential illness (and I thought her idea of what the potential illness did for her was an interesting twist), but she totally had crazy eyes, as they say over on How I Met Your Mother. However, the scene where the patient does the card trick for her and Kutner was top-notch.
A throwaway I loved was House calling Cole "Sophie" when he asked if he could just have the immunity instead of having to pick who got fired.
I had kind of hoped Thirteen's secret illness would be Lupus.
I loved the job Steve Valentine did, too. He did a great transition from arguing the value of the unknown to fearing it so much he provided his own answer, giving the time of his death. Yet he still hung on to the end with safeguarding his secrets as a magician, because he still believed wonder has a purpose. 13's decision wove so nicely into the discussion--I forgave her the "insight" moment because in this episode, everything fit. Ugly and this ep really showcase the show's exploration of the intersection of faith and reality, and what one gets out of each, begun so nicely with the switched identity patient in the premiere.
Also, Steve Valentine made a very believable magician!
Steve Valentine is my favorite POTW so far this season. This one was very well executed in terms of allowing the different threads (POTW, 13's mystery, House's continuing cavalier attitude) into a nicely woven story.
