I miss Chase's hair, not gonna lie. Well, not his season one hair, that was just gross.
I also miss more believable medicine and episodes that were driven by the patients and House characterization, rather than by what OMG outrageous thing House will do next.
ITA with this. I know the show is House-centric, but it's also a medical drama. The medical aspect is suffering for the sake of House's antics, which I don't mind in small doses, but every week? And I love House, the character. I like seeing lots of him. But him in general, not just him sticking knives into walls.
Plus... the survivor thing is getting tired. Just pick your fellows, House!
I'm not saying I hate the change. It's good to mix it up sometimes. It just seems like the overall quality is suffering a little. But hey, it's still better than 95% of what's on TV.

What was the CIA patient telling House before he said what he did to make House figure out that he had been in Brazil? I mean the part that House said was boring. He said that he had been partying for 40 days of carnivale. But House knew that Bolivia's carnivale is only 9 days long so he must have been in Brazil. And in Brazil, they call Brazil Nuts castanhas-do-Pará (literally "chestnuts from Pará (thank you wikipedia) so he was eating Brazil Nuts (which, incidentally, mostly come from Bolivia.)
ETA: Lully is from Brazil. I hope she sees the episode soon so she can correct anything that I misinterpreted.

No, I mean before that part. I don't think it was important to the plot, but I couldn't hear the dialogue so I was curious. Unless that was the whole conversation? But, I thought there was more than just the thing about carnivale.

HHOW is so conducive to bitterness and I'm not sure why. Why is the atmosphere in here so negative all the time? I think I like an episode until I come here.
Maybe people are more motivated to comment when they're unhappy? I've actually sometimes found that my feelings toward an episode improve after coming here. Tonight's was a case in point.
But before I get a bunch of posters asking me why I choose to come here if I feel that way, let me tell the truth: because I find all of the analysis logical, intelligent, or even when it's neither, interesting.
So I have a couple of questions for people who care to answer them:
-Who has actually seen Michael Michelle in anything else before?
If you honestly have, what did you think of her in the OTHER show or movie, and did that impact your liking of her this episode?
Because I had never seen/heard of her before, and although I didn't like the sex stuff between her character and House, I thought she did a fine, believable acting job.
I thought so too, and if House has to be attracted to someone, she's more of an equal, which would make it more palatable to me. I've never seen her before tonight.
-What SPECIFICALLY are people missing from the first three seasons? I mean, I know a lot of people have mentioned the lack of Chase. What about Chase? His dynamic with House, his hair? I'm curious.
House being a doctor who cares about his "one thing" to the point that it sometimes even helps defer the chronic pain. House being a complicated adult and not a bratty kid. House dealing with his issues *in the context of medical storylines* instead of snarking around 24/7. House being a believable, if extreme, person instead of a wild and crazy guy and chick magnet.

I didn't catch it all, but he was talking about an attache who was there with him and how she was very buttoned-down except when she did a dance - also something about agreeing to tell her things. Or she was telling him things.

13 is still boring. She needs some red bull or something.

Actually, I thought better of her after tonight. She was a non-entity on ER, but her time on Homicide was just a mess. Her acting style didn't mesh at all with the Homicide writing and the concept for her character was just stupid. I think this episode really gave her something to work with in terms of characterization and she seemed to have good chemistry with HL, so I actually enjoyed her performance.

Nobody poisoned CIA guy. He poisoned himself by consuming too much selenium via the Brazil nuts. I think he may have thought the attache poisoned him, because it sounded like she was telling him things, and his cover was blown or something.

Forgot to mention, there was a moment when they were on the roof and House saw the helicopter, that he looked so much like "Alan" from a sketch in ABOF&L, the guy who meets SF in a parking garage and has to agree to watch a whole season of The Crystal Maze, or some such. He made the exact same face. Cracked me up.

As funny as it was, I thought it was just characteristic Wilson nervousness and didn't mean anything.
Ah, but we're fans. Why would we accept a calm sensible explanation for anything if we can play with a fun exciting explanation instead?
Actually, that line immediately made me think of the creepy!evil!Wilson story, but if I said why, it'd spoil it for those who haven't read it yet.
I wasn't happy about House taking that many stairs quite that easily (and without the adrenalin we've seen fuel occasions when he wasn't using his cane), but then forgot about it when they gave us the wonderful "It helps when you've got props" line and House seeing the black helicopter. Although, really, wouldn't they have had to notify Cuddy to land on her roof? Or at least notify whoever handles flight control for medical choppers, to avoid crashing into a medevac team, and even that little notification would have given Cuddy enough for her to know something was going on and he wasn't just playing hooky.
I didn't think the unnamed agent did confuse Brazil and Bolivia -- I thought he intentionally gave them misinformation, not realizing that the switch would be medically relevant. I did like how it tied in to House "diagnosing people based on their travel plans" and the continuing theme that you never know what is going to turn out to be medically relevant.
So are we supposed to believe now that we can slowly and dramatically kill ourselves by eating too many Brazil nuts? I mean, I've got no problem with the idea that too much of anything is gonna be toxic in one way or another, but given that they're marketed as an edible, wouldn't the most obsessive nut-eater just get bored of them before the selenium reached toxic levels?
And dismissing the racer with heat stroke seemed like a cop out. And frankly, given Foreman's track record and House's track record with his quick-and-dismissive diagnoses, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if she does have some zebra that's still undiagnosed. And I wanted to see more of her demanding to see House. We don't see enough of patients demanding to see House himself.
Re: the carnivale conversation -- I thought he was getting her to tell him things, and the implication was that he was (or House thought he was) feeling guilty because her own people killed her afterwards. But I also couldn't hear the conversation well enough to be sure of what I was hearing. It was mostly *mumblemumble carnivale mumblemumble dance*.

Did they seem to be really pushing the edge tonight? The "I've got a place for you on my 'little Jimmy'" "There's a satellite photo of Cuddy's Hoo-Hoo" I felt some of the humor was really crass tonight. It wasn't big and it wasn't clever.
Yes. House had some very good lines ("Can you close the door? Because at some point in this dance you are going to drop trou, and I hate to share"), but much of his dialogue was crass and beneath prior writing.
So....uh, does Wilson have a secret? He seemed awfully paranoid about that CIA background check.
Wonderful! More fodder for our talented fanfic writers!!
So, who gets high on Vicodin/Viagra while watching P0rn naked and calls their best friend?
Good times.
:P Now for my personal commentary...
They missed a hot ticket with House's ringtone. They obviously wanted to make a point with the ringtone by making it Salt-N-Pepa's Whatta Man. However, I would have enjoyed it if they had used Anti-Flag's I Don't Want to Be Like You for Foreman's ring on House's cell phone, and Bitch by the Rolling Stones for CTB. Whatta Man should be reserved for Wilson. :D

I'm guessing this is the person who poisoned him?
peggy06, I don't think he was poisoned by anyone. I think he ODed because he overindulged on nuts. There are quite a few vitamins that have toxic levels -- you need some, but too much will make you sick.
siriusly, I've never heard of Michael Michele before. I thought she was gorgeous and competent but also dull. Basically the same reaction I have to 13. There are stunning women who electrify the screen whenever they're on but, based on what I've seen on House, neither of these two qualify.
I don't think the comments are entirely negative. Maybe those are the only ones you're picking up on. There are quite a few people who liked the episode or who liked pieces of it. If you want to see negativity, go read what people were posting (elsewhere) when the Tritter arc was on. When they give us a Three Stories, you'll see unqualified raves. Until then, people are going to discuss the bad with the good.
And I, too, miss the House who was a jerk but who then spent the night poring over x-rays or videos of surgery long after everyone has gone home. He was more attractive (in every sense of the word) when he was red-eyed and sweating through detox but still refusing to go home until he figured out the diagnosis than when he's playing guitar in his office. (Playing guitar at home, on the other hand...)

While I have enjoyed all the fun this season, I have to admit I do miss the depth that they have shown House in past episodes but I think they are probably going somewhere with this just like they did with the antidepressants last season.

Of course, we didn't exactly get a payoff for that, either.
