Say, was House serious about the Mount Sinai offer?

Ranee- 10-30-2007

Say, was House serious about the Mount Sinai offer? I really have no idea, sad to say.

sherlock21b- 10-30-2007

Say, was House serious about the Mount Sinai offer? It was Mount Zion, not Mount Sinai :) (says she who was just in the latter a month ago).

Bessie Mae- 10-30-2007

Wouldn't the patient have to know that Cuddy was trying to stroke House's ego to fake mimicking House as the alpha in that scene? And, why would he fake it? Can he even fake it?

blue- 10-30-2007

So Cuddy didn't offer Chase the position she offered Foreman in 'Resignation'. That was dumb of her. Very dumb of her. But then they've dumbed down Cuddy so much since the first season, I hardly recognize her. I'm guessing that she's so not dumb, she knows Chase wouldn't go within 10 feet of the 'House babysitting' job. And if he did, he certainly wouldn't answer to Cuddy. That seems to be born out by the House/Chase betting scam

extra_cat- 10-30-2007

I think you're right about that blue. Cuddy said in Alone that Foreman would do everything he could to prove House wrong while Chase would do everything he could to prove House right. I think she knew that Chase was not the one to turn to if she wanted an allegiance against House. Chase has a history of supporting House's crazy ideas. Given that Cuddy tried to lure Foreman back last episode with a lucrative offer and then refused to give it to him, I'm starting to wonder if the offer she made him last season was even real. She had no intention of putting him in charge in Season 2. Maybe her MO is to dangle fake offers in front of people to get what she wants.

That seems to be born out by the House/Chase betting scam Even 4th-season Cuddy's not stupid enough to offer Chase a babysitting job for House. But I was under the impression from the way it played out tonight that Foreman was talking about his original job offer (his own diagnostic team)--not the snitch but completely powerless one. And she was dumb not to offer Chase that job instead of putting him in surgery.

And I think Cuddy didn't even attempt to work it with Chase because (1) he probably would see through it, and (2) I don't think she quite knows how to manipulate him as well as Foreman.

Taiga- 10-30-2007

I don't think the first offer was a fake offer or a House babysitting one, I thought it was sincere. Plotwise it was to prove that Foreman was serious about leaving.

extra_cat- 10-30-2007

I never got the impression that Chase and Cameron knew about the Season 3 offer made to Foreman. Anyway, it is kind of funny, but so very Foreman: he has a crappy job and a fellowship salary now, but he still thinks Chase is jealous of him!

DrSpaceman- 10-30-2007

I thought this was the weakest episode of the season so far, and I liked the other three eps. I don't think they were impying any House/Cuddy off camera action, as I thought it was pretty self-explanatory joking about the pills. But mainly, I hope not. At this point, any House/Cuddy action would be completely ruined by the destruction of Cuddy's character over the past season and a half (or thereabouts). I can see House respecting season one Cuddy, I can't see House respecting this Cuddy and being in a relationship with her. Hey, remember when she was supposedly one of only five female Deans of Medicine in the country and actually seemed competent in her job? Now Cuddy's purpose seems to be trailing along as a House-sitter - and a bad one at that because she does nothing but bend to his every whim. At this point I think House and every person at PPTH knows that Cuddy's threats are hollow and that she never follows through on them. Instead she tries to replace her employee's meds with laxatives.

xxvickyy- 10-30-2007

Cuddy is the deen of medicine. Grow some backbone, girl! What happened to her since season one ? i missed the beginning of this episode (where they tell you what happens, before the theme song). can someone fill me in? :> i don't understand foreman. what does he want? does he want to stay? quit? make himself more miserable? is he even miserable? i was so confused throughout this episode.

Taiga- 10-30-2007

I never got the impression that Chase and Cameron knew about the Season 3 offer made to Foreman. Oh, like he wouldn't rub their noses in it? Besides we've had other times where we didn't see a character be told something but they still knew it - we have to assume we're not shown everything. vicky, two teenagers are waiting to mug someone. One boy (Sub) is reluctant but is forced into it by the other (Dom). They see the PotW and Sub demands his wallet. PotW mirrors Dom, but also starts coughing uncontrollably. Dom steals his wallet (hence why he had no ID at the hospital) and runs, while Sub calls 911.

Poeia- 10-30-2007

Eh. So the two remaining women are afraid -- Amber of being wrong since there is no other reason for anyone to like her and 13 because of ????? Kutner is a thrill seeker. Other random thoughts: Foreman - he went through three years in that job and never learned a damned thing about himself. He spends two minutes in a room with a guy who picks up on subconcious thoughts and attitudes and he's full of self-awareness. And House is impressed with that. Regarding the pill switching, it's my understanding that one of the side effects of Vicodin would result in a very high tolerance for laxatives. So taking several Ex-lax tablets wouldn't have a debilitating effect on House. But they also wouldn't help with the leg pain so of course he knew what he had taken. House always takes less Vicodin when he's engrossed in a mystery or when he's just enjoying himself. And I think he is enjoying working with a new team, teaching them and figuring them out. Cuddy said that she hired Foreman because House's survivor game caused the death of a patient. But who's to say that even if there were only 3 fellows, 13 wouldn't have been dumb enough to drop off the pills and leave. After all, it was a patient who could barely move. You don't watch him take the pills. You put them in his mouth then you put the straw from the water glass between his lips. Or, better yet, you put a liquid form of the medicine in his IV. Has there been any doubt for at least a year and a half that, between House and Cuddy, House is the alpha. But Wilson-House was great. Of course House will insist that it was just because Wilson was the surgeon during the meeting (temporary alpha dog). But the reality is that House needs Wilson more than Wilson needs House.

angelcat2865- 10-30-2007

At this point I think House and every person at PPTH knows that Cuddy's threats are hollow and that she never follows through on them. Instead she tries to replace her employee's meds with laxatives I think this is only true with House and I really believe this is directly tied into the events of last season. Last season she took several strong stands against House (most of them on Wilson’s advice) and the results were disastrous. Now I think she questions her judgement when it come to House and this makes her look weak.
