Thirteen just needs to go. She's flat. She's boring.
She is flat and boring, agreed. She's drop dead gorgeous, so no newsflash as to how she got the part. I don't know if she has anything interesting to offer as far as an actor.
I thought the same thing about Cam and Chase when I first started watching the show. Now they're written better, at least in this ep.
Cam seems lively compared to 13. She seems sedated.

Yeah, I was worried for the dog, too.
I also wonder exactly why Chase agreed to run the -*test*-('"). (And, the spoilered among us found out what House meant by a doctor not working at the hospital) Was it because Amber said she found his motives more interesting? And, if her assumption of his motives are true and they are interesting, will they explore it? If they do, I'm guessing not in any detail for the next few episodes, but maybe at some point.

Oh, and isn't Cuddy supposed to be one of THREE female Deans of Medicine in the USA? One of the other ones just happens to be at Mercy? (Or did I dream that? It seems rather low, but I swear I heard that!)
Yeah extracat - she told Vogler that but I can't remember which episode. But that was season 1 - maybe there's more than three now.

Can we call this episode Everybody Dies? I cried during the dog scene
Wilson can say that House hasn't been to the afterlife because he really hasn't - he hasn't really died for good.
The writers obviously know what happened in Three Stories and I think the visions House had then are exactly the reason he would try to experience it again. Think about it: House is an atheist, so he's 99% sure there's nothing after you die. But, he's had that one experience... That's got to cause him a lot of doubt about his assumption of 'nothing being there'. So he wants to make sure what he told the patient is true.

I thought chase agreed to run the -*test*-('") to piss off house, and prove him wrong if she turned out to be right.

I loved the 97 seconds worth of Chase in the episode, especially the "Why are you yelling at me?" bit. It was also good that he saw right through CutThroatBitch.
Seeing Foreman in action did nothing to make me miss him--nothing at all. I realized how completely UNconvincing he was leading the team. It sounded like he was reading all those medical terms off a cue card on the other side of the camera.
I like CutThroatBitch more than any of the other Numbers. Thirteen just needs to go. She's flat. She's boring. It's her fault the dog is dead.
My thoughts on the opening was "OHMYBOB! She's going to hit the dog!" I was actually a lot more worried about the dog than the guy. When the guy asked for his dog and asked for his hand to be put on the dog and said he wasn't scared, I cried. And, yeah, it was really all about the dog.
I was cheering Wilson on when he yelled at House about telling the patient there was no afterlife. It doesn't matter if there is or isn't. The patient had some hope and that's what mattered.
And I do love it that House told Wilson "I love you."
Chase's few seconds were awesome. Foreman sucks. He really does. he's not House in any way but the arrogance, which House has earned and foreman never will. He needs to go away. Instead he'll come back and get more screentime than Chase, who is made of awesome. I was so terrified that the dog was going to die in the teaser. I would have probably turned off the ep if that had happened.
Wilson was good tonight. I did forget to mention that. Everything else sucked.

yes, but I don't think the rest of the ep was lazy, they needed it to balance just how dark & depressing an ep this is. think about it, two patients dead, also the dog, multiple medical mistakes by the team and House on Cuddy's watch. They really went for a grand slam there.
There was a lot of good stuff there and it isn't the darkness I find lazy, it's the stupid stuff like Wilson first saying House "hasn't been there so doesn't know" and then turn around and basically say, "you've been there twice, why did you have to do this?" and the utter illogical idiocy of Cuddy blaming House because he "hired" 13 but not seeming to remember that she made him hire a team and that, if it's his fault for hiring 13, then logically it's Cuddy's fault because she hired House. gah! And all cut-throat bitch's hijinks just didn't work for me. Is that supposed to make me like her or think she cool or something like the sexscades did for Cam/Chase? It just made me hate her.
I think they were going for cheap, easy shots rather than the grand slam, especially with the House near death again, the I love you and the dog dying. Why bother with substance when you can just have House stick a knife in a socket and be rescued by the la-*test*-('") heart throb? And wake up to say he loves Wilson. Cheap and lazy appeal to sensationalism imo. I'm not saying there was nothing of any substance in this episode, I could have just done without the Most Shocking House Ever effect every quarter hour.
LightMyCandle- 10-09-2007
I think the "I love you" was real, but that House wants Wilson and TPTB want the audience to be able to dismiss it as a joke if that's what they're comfortable doing. Whether the "real" was platonic or not, that I'll leave for the analysts.
ITA, the way he said it was so House.
My thoughts on the opening was "OHMYBOB! She's going to hit the dog!" I was actually a lot more worried about the dog than the guy.
Me too, I was like "NO! Not the dog. Take the guy instead."
I was cheering Wilson on when he yelled at House about telling the patient there was no afterlife. It doesn't matter if there is or isn't. The patient had some hope and that's what mattered.
I was cheering too. Let the man believe what he wants to believe. What good will it do to have him believing nothing's out there? As I've said before, I know House attacks anything and everything about people but when he attacks religion it just gets under my skin.

The things I do for you, cat... (shuffles off to transcripts site) That's what she said in 'Mob Rules': "There are three female Chiefs of Medicine at major hospitals in this country and we all got there using our feminine wiles." She was being sarcastic, but for Cuddy herself I'm starting to believe it's true - and that makes me sad.

Im so glad Chase got to be funny and snappy tonight. Very fun to watch him. So glad he's still around.
Foreman was pretty miserable but that's what the part called for. I don't think Omar was sub-par.

Me too. Hate the whole atheist thing. It produces a major visceral reaction with me. but I'm a christian so no surprise there.
And isn't wilson a jew? don't they believe in afterlife? But he could be a "secular jew" I guess.
LightMyCandle- 10-09-2007
After seeing what Foreman's boss did, can we all appreciate Cuddy a little more? Nope? Just me? Allrighty then.
olivia720- 10-09-2007
Yeah foreman's boss was a stone cold B!! Hey I'm gonna fire you for saving a patient!!
Umbrella- 10-09-2007
Sorry to say, I'm heavily disliking Wilson this season. Please don't hurt me!
The Foreman-team cracked me right up. A brunette woman, a shorthaired man, and a pritty!hairs? Foreman, that's not original at all.
It was a relief to see Chase's fashion sense is still just as, er, incredible. And I saw no ring on Cameron's finger, so maybe that settles that.
Pretty gutsy of them to kill the A-plot patient, the B-plot patient, and the main character all in one go. Now if only the writers would direct that impulse toward some of the less savory characters...

He was below subpar for me. Especially since miserable wasn't even close to what he was projecting. I got nothing from him. He was just bland and nothing. I got no emotions. I cringed from how bad he was at trying to...what? Play Foreman as House but not house but House? The fact that we've never been shown that Foreman has the ability to run a team may be confusing OE, like it confuses me. Maybe he can't figure out why the writers went there either. I'll cut him a sliver of slack for that possibility. But that's about it.

It's interesting; I'm an atheist, and talk of religion invokes the same visceral reaction in me. I really shouldn't let it bother me so much, but I'm like House in my relentless pursuit of facts.
