Do we KNOW the former Mrs. Ziegler is the dean? Over at H_W they were saying that she was also in NCIS last night.

March-I see you got the memo. See you at the Super Secret Meeting. Bring cookies. I'm very much looking forward to re-watching this episode. And then re-re-watching. I've been contemplating the light socket bit. There was nothing suicidal about it. It was an experiment. It's odd to me that it could be viewed as the act of an unhealthy mind. House wouldn't have (obviously didn't) trust anyone else's reactions and experiences. He had to use himself as a test subject. It was performed under controlled circumstances, but as with all scientific trials there was some degree of risk. Even the most benign studies require the subjects to read and sign a consent form. Sticking the knife into the socket was the House equivalent of Timothy Leary conducting multiple 'tests' involving ingesting LSD. One NDE doesn't provide sufficient data. Two is slightly more worthwhile, but the traumatic events surrounding House's first two NDE's would color his perception. This time, he was trying to put himself into the same position without having to actually almost die. Or-in short-tl;dr.

Honest about what? There being no afterlife? Who's to say whether or not that's true? It's a belief any way you slice it. Honest about what he sees as reality (that said belief is not true) and honest with the patient, which Wilson wasn't. And the thing that I really LOVE about cut-throat-bitch is the complete lack of flirtiness between House and her. Lucky you. Give them time. The way House--who usually flinches away from being touched-- "bonded physically" with her when she helped him out of bed, her Cammi-like comment about him not having anyone to care, the way he shoved off from her when got "too close" emotionally all set off my ship-dar warning bells. I hope you are right but it wouldn't surprise me if my apprehensions played out.

I think what's unhealthy is that, as Wilson pointed out, House didn't CARE if he died. The point was not to die, but he could have. Another unhealthy thing is that healthy people, by psychological criteria, do not want to harm themselves in any way. It is in our biological makeup to stay AWAY from harm. House continuously defies that, and while it makes for great drama, it does not mean the character, by any stretch of the imagination, is mentally sound.

March-I see you got the memo. See you at the Super Secret Meeting. Bring cookies. Oh, in regards to my icon? Well, all the cool kids are doing it. I'll bring the cookies if you bring the grits. *g*

Nothing revealing, just my impression. If we take the two main new females, (the other ones didn't really have screentime alone with House), for example, the way they talk to him, gestures, looks etc. - for me it was pretty obvious 24 sees House like a teacher/boss/dad, nothing sexual, whiles 13 has that teasing flirty smile about her whenever she talks to him. YMMV, naturally. Anyway, her character as a whole makes me yawn. I'm not disputing her level of "boring", but I'm really baffled by any percieved flirtiness on her part. I really don't get it. Other than the last two scenes, where she was not only thrown off of her game, but knocked down a couple of pegs, I didn't see 13 behaving any differently towards *any* of the characters. She seemed rather consistent in her treatment/reactions to everyone including House. I also don't get what Amber has done to indicate that she sees House as a *Dad* figure? She wants this fellowship because she's cut throat and it's prestigious and she wants to be the best/work for the best. I don't see her seeing House as a Daddy. Other than Chase, I have a hard time imagining that any of these people would see House as a Dad-like person and Chase only gets the pass because he has prexisting Daddy issues that hit their peak during his time at PPTH. But, I didn't think he had House/Daddy issues when we first met him. Likewise, I don't see anything that even hints that Amber sees House that way.

'Cause House is a crip, after all. Good one! I kinda liked the doo-rag on House. It was just so wrong that you have to admire his lack of vanity to be willing to wear it. And the was so nice with his eyes... the dog's name is Hoover Maybe all dog's names have to start with "H" on House. Subtle clue that House is a dog.... I think that Foreman was under the impression that what House did was "easy" in terms of running the differentials, leading the team, etc. and that he could do it so much better than House given the chance. Only when he had to fly solo and do it on his own, he realized that it wasn't so easy after all. ITA. Epps did a fine job of showing Foreman being a fake nice guy and not really as competent and confident as he thought he would be. FWIW I thought the phoniness of his "nice boss" act underscores the traits he has in common with House: he's really not a nice person. ETA: If it helps to have company bailey, I'm with you on the wet blanket front. ITA with your post.

I think House chose to use her as crutches because he felt there's no sexual tension between them, and shoved her off to walk away when she started yammering too much. We'll see, of course, and if something happens I'm blaming you  No I'm kidding. amysusanne - Amazing how perspectives vary, eh? :) I guess the father thing (more as future potential if she stays, than something current, btw) stroke me with CTB because the last 2 episodes remind me of kids pursuing their dad's attention and approval. That is to say, all of them, and not just CTB. She just had more time with him. Re:13, that's really a matter of different vibes we got from her. I saw some flirting, you didn't, the rest remains to be seen. Of course, I'm hoping you're right.

Can someone please please for the love of all things H/Wtastic transcribe the dialogue between Anne Dudek and Hugh Laurie during that scene when she picks up up off the floor? I was with VERY loud dorm-mates and I didn't hear anything, just saw it, and apparently there's an encoded message about Wilson and MLC. Dialogue? PLEASE?! Another seemingly-important scene I missed craploads of dialogue in: when Wilson handles the n00bs after House electrocutes himself? Up until "I love you" that was the most lovely, slashtastic, heartfelt moment of the ep.

I'm usually all about the religious on the show but this week the whole afterlife thing felt forced to me. I also hate it when they make House too cruel, so I'm with Wilson on this. There was really no reason to NOT let the dying guy believe in the afterlife. I love Alanis Morissette and all but playing her music while House was about to stick the knife in the socket was a bit too...un-house like. Maybe it was the whole point, but it felt so weird to me. I adored the minute of screentime Chase got. Wished there was more. I'm loving the changes in the dynamic between him and House and I just adored the scene with the cutthroat pixie. Ohh and I loved the big love reference with the Mormon dude. So far the only newbies I like are cut-throat pixie and the old guy, which means they're probably not staying (I'm really hoping I'm wrong here). I liked 6/9 last week but this week he didn't really do anything interesting. and I'm I evil for cheering when Foreman got fired?. I like the jewish guy. There's a Jewish guy? Shows how much the newbies hold my interest. which one is the Jewish guy?

Siriusly- 10-10-2007

I think that poster assumed that Taub was Jewish because of his name and the fact he's a New York plastic surgeon.

Re the Survivor scene-never having seen the show,I didn't get anything out of the tribal council and torches reference. What I liked was the end of the scene. When House took off the doo rag (do they wear those on Survivor? One more reason to never watch),and just stood there,I saw in his eyes(Oh God,those eyes!)such a "What the Hell" expression. It looked to me like he had thought it was going to be fun at least for him when he planned it, but it sure wasn't.I thought he looked stunned, confused, sad, miserable and not because he had just fired the team and said goodbye to Scooter. He looked like he had no idea what was going on with him or anybody else.Or I could just be insane because, you know,Oh God,those eyes!

jonne- 10-10-2007

Just wachted the epi (thank you so much internet wizzards), and liked it. But please don't let this turn into a "supernatural afterlife arc" in which House will have to admit there is something between heaven and earth. Only Housewhispering allowed on this show, no ghostwhispering!

Siriusly- 10-10-2007

I have always liked the ethical and moral sides of this show, so if they want to invoke and challenge religion, it's 1000% good with me. Can't wait for the dead thing next week...Of COURSE it'll be explained, AND we get to see people in the characters' lives like House's Grandpa Walter.

misanthropicobs- 10-10-2007

Sirusly the next show is Oct 23. Next week is the preempt for playoffs.
