I was kind of worried at first, when the early reports said that House was mad about the guitar thing, I mean he was obviously not playing around but it was still a nice and slashy ep. IMO.
Did anyone else thing/hope Wilson would join him in the bedroom? Oh and House offered to give WIlson money. Hell has frozen over. Daddy's Boy doesn't count.Well, of course I was hoping that he would join him in the bedroom, and my slashy happy mind thinks that was exactly what House wanted too  The money offering, oh squee, House offering to give Wilson money, made of win. Also loved the mentioning of Wilson's A.D. medication.
The only thing I didn't like about this episode was Faux!Cameron.

Well, my computer ate my post. It was unreasonably long. I had a Hoyaytini, and so now I need to go to bed.
Cheers!

Did the camera angles seem weird at some points. It seems like the scene with House and Wilson in the car was filmed with a handheld camera. I found it disconcerting --but no big deal.
Ugh, yeah I noticed that. The weird handheld camera movements really bugged me.

Deran Serafian directed it - he tends to do those weird camera angles. Remember when House was jogging at the beginning of Meaning - that weird shot when he was taking his pulse and smiling, and half of his face was not on camera. That's Serafian's style.

I agree that the filming was hella annoying. Anyone know who that is? The random hand-held shaky close-ups screamed Inept!Katie Jacobs to me, but I don't know for sure.
ETA: Ah, I see my question's been answered. Sorry.

Lots of lovely H/W moments, but I'm a little puzzled by why House is so utterly useless without a team. How the heck did he get to be "World Famous" if he needs fellows to solve the case?
That puzzled me too. I guess it's more of he needs them more emotionally than intellectually to solve cases.
Although, House rarely solves a case by himself. So many of his epiphanies happen because of what someone else says and he needs someone to argue with and challenge him. His team did that effectively.
I don't think House ever worked by himself. He was probably part of another doctor's staff at one point or another and I doubt Cuddy, or any Dean for that matter, would have allowed a department to exist that consisted of only one doctor. But House has the ability to listen and think critically about what people say, reason through arguments, observe, and arrive at plausible conclusions that most people can't see. Also, I'm not even sure he was "world famous" because he's brilliant. He could be world famous because of his...erm...unusual methods.

IMO the point was less than House needs the team - after all, he did put together all the pieces eventually, rather than he would solve the cases faster with someone(s) more effective to work against than Leon, or Cuddy for that matter.
Yes, that's it. House did solve the case. Cuddy agreed with that. The point of having a team is that he works better and would have solved the case faster with one. He wasn't completely useless here.

Anyone think Wilson wasn't clipping coupons, he was cutting out letters for the ransom note?
Oh totally! I was thinking "Why on earth does Wilson need Liquid Tide?" He lives in a hotel and my guess is that he drops his laundry off to be done. I can't imagine him sitting around in a laundromat with his schedule. ;-)

This may be my favorite season opener of the show. I actually liked leaving the ducklings out, both the season 1-3 fully-fledged ducks and this year's itty bitty quacklings. Much more focus on House/Wilson and House/Cuddy. I love the team, sure, but when the kids are away, the adults will play. Play dirty, that is.
RSL was good. "Oh... my... God." House stealing a patient was nice, the YouTube quip, clichés quip, and break-in were great, the serial-killer style messages were great...
I'm looking forward to this season. Also loved the twist with the PotW; I may just go spoiler-free season 4 so I can look forward to neat plot quirks like that.
They should've worked in Heart's "Alone", though; first thing I thought when I saw the episode title.

jdr, I didn't think the episode really sold the whole "House is useless without his team."
House seemed to think he needed a team too though with his running around and asking random doctors and janitors to give him ideas to shot down. I think Cuddy is exaggerating House's need for a team (especially Cameron), but the fact that he's interviewing makes me think he thinks she's at least partially right. I liked the ep, but it sort of bothered me how lost he seemed. Normally, when he really needs to think he goes off by himself and watches soaps or plays gameboy so why was this ep so different?

I agree Wilson is absolutely made of win. The guitar scream was insane! I am so glad I was alone in my office for the entire episode or they would have come and carted me away!

I know. Very brief, very subtle, but it made me so happy and grateful.

Right... he solved the case, but--in theory--he would have solved it sooner. He needs someone who will pay attention to the patients and families, someone who will argue against him, and someone who gets his logic and is willing to run with his ideas. That's kind of simplifying because CCF are certainly more than just those functions, but that's why House needs them. They are his series of checks and balances.
I enjoyed the episode for about 15 minutes, but it just got boring.

I just think it's the security of having the team behind him - whether he likes to admit it or not, they help him by throwing out ideas that are springboards for his fantastic leaps of logic. I think he does need outside input.
Hi Minty! Good to see you here!

They followed through on that? Ahh! The apocolypse! The 4 horsemen, the rain of fire, and the end of days! The House writers have used continuity!
