More thoughts, I didn't miss the duckies at all. The guitar-napping was made of awesome and the PotW, though I didn't care much for her, had a very sad conclusion.
As much I love Chase, I really didn't miss them either. All the attention on House and Wilson made me forget about them. I think I'd miss them if they weren't around for a long while, but I didn't miss them tonight.

The ending for the PotW was sad, but I actually liked that. I'm surprised how much I liked this ep - I didn't miss Cameron & Foreman, it was a nice relief not to have to listen to them whining all the time & even if House didn't take the guitar thing very lightly Wilson was a nice counterpoint. Lots of lovely hoyay (lunch, volvo, Wilson's perfect date), & Leon was great, particularly how they mocked the kids roles. The nurse who said she read both the memos, was she the same nurse who got bribed by House in Distractions?
Anyone think Wilson wasn't clipping coupons, he was cutting out letters for the ransom note?

House has shown that he needs someone to bounce his ideas from. He had fellows before these three.
I think the episode proved he needs a team because it was too monotonous without them.

For once Wilson and Cuddy did it right.
A-freaking-men. I was so pleased with the way they, particularly Wilson, handled this.
Oh and Dr. Buffer rules all.

A very good way to open the season. Really liked this season's 1st show, the House and Wilson moments felt like what drew me to them in the first place.

Lots of lovely H/W moments, but I'm a little puzzled by why House is so utterly useless without a team. How the heck did he get to be "World Famous" if he needs fellows to solve the case?
That puzzled me too. I guess it's more of he needs them more emotionally than intellectually to solve cases.

jdr, I didn't think the episode really sold the whole "House is useless without his team" theory. I'm on the fence about whether or not it was supposed to. Obviously Cuddy believes it's true...but Cuddy is really quite often wrong when it comes to House. How quickly does she think any other doctor would figure out that the patient wasn't the patient? I'm not totally sure that Wilson bought into that theory, either. He seemed to think House should have a team for *House's* own good, not for his patients'.

Oooh, good one, I didn't catch that. It makes perfect sense.

Ah, that was fun. You know I love the angst, but I don't mind a fun episode as long as it doesn't seem pointless and as long as there's lots of House. My mom enjoyed it too, and we are almost complete opposites when it comes to the show. She doesn't particularly like House and she loves Wilson, which is the reverse of me. So, the show had to be doing something good to have both of us enjoy it.
Aside from the fun, there was a nice serious moment, when House told the boyfriend that his girlfriend hadn't lied to him. It was similar to telling the son in SoaCG that he "did the right thing" He was telling them both what he would have wanted to hear, so it was a form of comfort, in a way. Even if it didn't really fit the people he was talking to.

Yeah, I caught that.

I was kind of worried at first, when the early reports said that House was mad about the guitar thing, I mean he was obviously not playing around but it was still a nice and slashy ep. IMO.
Did anyone else thing/hope Wilson would join him in the bedroom? Oh and House offered to give WIlson money. Hell has frozen over. Daddy's Boy doesn't count.
saara_zaara- 09-25-2007
IMO the point was less than House needs the team - after all, he did put together all the pieces eventually, rather than he would solve the cases faster with someone(s) more effective to work against than Leon, or Cuddy for that matter. I thought the woman doctor in the ER was a bit twee, with the Cameron ref, & could have done without that, but it was nice that House's final epiphany came from Wilson's comment about the kidnapped patient.

I enjoyed this one, even though I knew going in I would miss the team hugely (and I do. Oh Chase!). The emotional impact there at the end was pretty painful--which means it was perfect. It's good to see that everyone so far seems to have liked the ep.
Maybe it's just me but the filming style seemed, er, quirky?

For once Wilson and Cuddy did it right. That's how you make House do something (and entertain the audience at the same time.) They were great. House was awesome.
I absolutely agree!
Two things:
Did the camera angles seem weird at some points. It seems like the scene with House and Wilson in the car was filmed with a handheld camera. I found it disconcerting --but no big deal.
"It's been a long time since a patient took a swing a you. Can I watch?"
I could've sworn that Wilson said almost the exact same line in a previous episode. Anyone else?
I have to digest the episode a bit more, but I'm glad to have my show back.

Cuddy's white dress: while I would certainly do her-I was kind of all like, seriously? I can't wear jeans and you can wear that?
Wilson in a hoodie is my new favorite thing in the land.
My dad saying "House would be better if Hugh Laurie was with you watching the show. That would make it better, I bet." ---ultimate win.
