I think he knew exactly what she was.
Oh, I totally think that he knew.

My mom is absolutely convinced that Wilson had no idea that Robin was a hooker at the end but I totally disagree. I think he knew exactly what she was.
I'm not convinced, but I'm leaning towards thinking he didn't.

I think he did figure it out when Robin told him that she had only just met Fran that day. He gets this look of realization on his face and tells her that staying there with Fran isn't part of her job.

I just rewatched this episode on DVD. I liked parts of it quite a bit. All of the action on the airplane was fun, the meta-joke about the ducklings was cute, and I loved the juxtaposition of the LPs. This episode probably had the best teaser of all three seasons, and the scenes with Chase and Cameron were great. I need hardly mention that Chase solving the case was wonderful. But there were portions of the episode that were absolutely boring.
For me, this will always be the episode that made me realize that Lisa Edelstein isn't a very good actress. She does funny, exasperated and sexy well. But no depth.
I had exactly the opposite reaction. Hysterical Cuddy may have been slightly over the top, but at least she was interesting. This episode actually confirmed my opinion that RSL is a mediocre screen actor at best. Every scene with Wilson I was counting the seconds until someone with more charisma would appear on screen. JM may be a less technically proficient actor, but she has enough presence that I actually would prefer to watch her than RSL. And I've never been impressed by JM. RSL is one of the most uncompelling actors I have ever had the misfortune to watch. The character is essentially saved by the fact that most of his scenes are with HL, who is able to generate chemistry with a pencil. That was the problem with this episode. Acting with people less talented than HL showed that RSL needs a great actor in order to be even a little engaging. Seriously, I will never watch this episode again without fast-forwarding through all his scenes because he pretty much put me to sleep. I really wish they had cast someone different in the role.

HL, who is able to generate chemistry with a pencil...and yet he doesn't with JM--in spite of her similarity with a pencil....
Yeah, yeah, you don't have to tell me.... :off topic:
Must say my opinion of RSL's abilities and presence is quite different. I wish I had this ep so I could watch it again with you comment in mind.

Wow. Really "different strokes." When Cuddy says "House, we should have turned back" and "House, you're wrong" House realizes that it's mass hysteria and makes the PA announcement about hand tremors. Then he tells Cuddy "Couldn't have done it without you. Rage is a symptom of mass hysteria" and I go "what rage?" I've seen her madder over House getting to clinic late.
I do agree that RSL does much better when he has someone good to play off. But I also think Wilson was in "caring doctor mode" rather than "snarky friend mode" during his scenes in Airborne. And that has to be more boring.

I second this, and would add that I trust Hugh Laurie's opinion on whether RSL is a good actor more than myself or any other layperson.

Airborne will never be among my favourite eps what with House & Wilson being so many miles apart, but I do actually like it, and part of that enjoyment is actually from Wilson's role. I liked seeing Wilson taking charge in House's absence - giving orders to House's staff ('Please?') and dealing with the POTW as the primary doctor and not advising (or being taken over by) House.
I see subtlety in his acting... esp in 1) the scene where Robin tells him she doesn't know the POTW and he takes a few seconds to think this one through before he responds; and 2) the end scene when he phones Robin, takes that little pink slip in his hand nervously, 'It's Dr Wilson.... Fran's doctor.... James...' They've not got great potential, those scenes; not only no HL to play off, but nobody at all, at the end; I think he plays both perfectly. As Dr Wilson, of course. (House in the same position would have been v different - but because of the character, not because of the acting).
IMHO, YMMV, etc., of course.

I thought LE did a really awful job in this ep. There were times when I absolutely cringed at her delivery.

WORD. Like I said on the FP thread, at least Airborne had an excuse for no H/W interaction. I loved Wilson taking charge of the team. I loved Robyn, I really would've liked her to come back. As for RSL, I think my opinions on him are quite clear by now. I know that stage and screen are two completely different things but the man does have a Tony. I thought he did a great job struggling with the phone call at the end.
JM is boring, she's always the same and that same isn't even pleasant. Whereas RSL's scenes with HL highlight both of their skills, JM's scenes with HL are usually just embarrasing because he's just on a whole other level than her. Sorry, I'm getting off topic, I'll end my rant here.

I did to. I have this vision of Robyn showing up one day & it turns out House knows her. And they have nice conversation about how Annette & Harvey are doing. :runs & hides:
Ahem, I love the fake team on the plane - it was great to have TPTB poke fun at the images of the duckings & I thought they were particularly well cast. I'd like Air!Chase to turn up again one day too.
extra_cat- 09-06-2007
I ADORED the Air-Team. They were just perfect. Mini!Chase was this "unaccompanied minor" who eagerly followed House around like a puppy dog and really got into helping look for the answers--even when he didn't know what he was looking for (cute scene of him looking in Herpes-woman's mouth). Faux!Foreman was pretty much useless and didn't have a clue what House was talking about. Not!Cameron was just uptight and moralizing enough to ask some of the right questions to get House to think. I loved the LP scene too, going back and forth between House and Chase doing the procedure in such different circumstances. And, of course, Chase solving another case is always a good thing. :D Cuddy was a little over-the-top, but since she was suffering from conversion disorder, I think she was supposed to be over-the-top. She had just gone to a conference on pandemics, afterall.

Well I cringed a good bit too but I can't tell if it was LE's fault or Cuddy's fault (if you know what I mean)....maybe tptb wanted us to cringe. And why hasn't somebody given me the season three dvds yet so I can watch all these eps over and over and give a more informed opinion????
The mirroring of the ducklings is something they have done several times now which makes me wonder...SPOILER...if we will be seeing yet more of it as House interviews the new people.

Sometimes it just seems that it's the writers' faults. This show is really good in its definition of Greg House, as it's whom the show is about, but can lack at times when it comes to all of the other characters.
Hail the Random- 09-21-2007
I wish that House had landed the plane. That would have been soo funny!(prociding he can fly a plane...er)
Taiga- 09-21-2007
I think we're supposed to believe that House can do anything. They'd probably explain it by saying his father taught him how to fly or something.
