3.18 Airborne
From tv.com: On House and Cuddy's flight from Singapore a passenger gets ill and Cuddy suspects an epidemic. At the hospital, Wilson leads the team as they deal with a middle-aged woman suffering from seizures.

Am I the only one who suspects that Cameron and Chase had sex in the patient's house because they were high from being exposed to the toxic gas? Cameron was all giggly about a brain tumor. Chase was paranoid about the cat watching. They were giggling in the lab. The patient, after being exposed, ran off to Caracas and then hired a female prostitute. Her reasoning had been compromised. I loved this episode. The fake team was great! Mini!Chase rocked.

For me, this will always be the episode that made me realize that Lisa Edelstein isn't a very good actress. She does funny, exasperated and sexy well. But no depth.

For me, this will always be the episode that made me realize that Lisa Edelstein isn't a very good actress. She does funny, exasperated and sexy well. But no depth. OMG. Thank you for saying this. I thought I was perhaps alone in my treasonous thoughts. Whenever there is a scene that requires her to have a bit of depth, she completely pulls me out of the moment. (I'm thinking specifically at the end of "Son of a Coma Guy" when she's confronting House about the "suicide" and the aspirin, etc.) "Airborne" was second only to "Fetal Position" in regards to episodes completely sucking out loud and I put that down largely to LE's acting hysterics. Which is why I have always been a Cuddy-in-small doses kind of person. Love her as a side distraction, but loathe her once she gets more of a spotlight on her to reveal the deficiencies.

Oh, word to all of the above. Cuddy in small doses is great. Lots of Cuddy? Not so much. Also, am I the only one in love with Robin the hooker? Seriously.

Also, am I the only one in love with Robin the hooker? Seriously. I don't know if you're alone or not....but am I alone in thinking the actress that played Robin was awful? She was interesting looking, but so awkward and obvious about her line delivery. Would hate to see her again.

Taiga- 08-19-2007

I have always been a Cuddy-in-small doses kind of person. Love her as a side distraction, but loathe her once she gets more of a spotlight on her to reveal the deficiencies. Me too, my Cuddy adoration is inversely proportional to her screentime. A big problem for me is how she acts inappropriately sexy with House, by which I mean inappropriately for the character. Cuddy, you're supposed to be feeling anger and contempt for him - why do you look like you want to jump his bones? I liked that Wilson really did lead the team instead of letting them push him around, but what was with their reluctance to obey him? He's a department head!

LightMyCandle- 08-19-2007

Word on Cuddy. I used to really like her and I was kind of shocked at how quickly I got sick of her in episodes that she's in a lot, Humpty Dumpty, FP, and Airborne. I liked that Wilson really did lead the team instead of letting them push him around, but what was with their reluctance to obey him? He's a department head! I agree, I was so proud of him. As for their reluctance, I think it was just because he's not their direct boss, but the hesitation was only momentary, and I really loved all the Wilson/Foreman stuff in the ep. Also, am I the only one in love with Robin the hooker? Seriously You're not alone. She was hot. I would've liked to have seen her again.

Yeah ITA with you Taiga. I really miss admin!Cuddy - the one whose concern for her hospital trumped any feelings she might have for House. And the ducklings have never really respected Wilson, have they? Or is that just my mind making things up? At any rate, I'm really glad that Wilson actually stepped up to the plate. The amount of Wilson in this episode did help the fact that at the start of the episode, Wilson wasn't even aware that House had gone to a conference. A little, anyway.

LightMyCandle- 08-19-2007

And the ducklings have never really respected Wilson, have they? Or is that just my mind making things up? I really think that Foreman respects him the most. There was one moment in this episode as they were about to start the surgery where Foreman looked at him and looked a little nervous, I don't know why but I really liked that. I think that Cameron used to respect him before S3, they used to have a nice sort of friendship (don't throw things at me for saying that) and Chase hasn't been around Wilson that much for me to judge (which is such a crime, the pretty lonely boys need to be together!!!!)

galaxygirl- 08-19-2007

I would say as well that Foreman is the one that respects Wilson the most of the Ducklings. There is this scene back in season 2 when Foreman comes to ask for advice on how to handle House if he, Foreman, becomes department head, and I not only found that smart of Foreman to ask the person who knows House the best, but he's also always respectful towards Wilson. Maybe he got that respect way back from their interactions during Histories. I also love Cuddy in small doses, I don't like the episodes where she has a lot of screentime and like LightMyCandle I can get sick of her very soon if she has too much screentime. I also love her so much better as administrator!Cuddy. Still haven't forgiven her for her lack of concern about Wilson's situation in Whack-a-Mole.

vitawash99- 08-20-2007

I think I'd enjoy the more Cuddy-focused episodes more if they weren't all the same damned shrill mess. I don't understand why a writing team would repeatedly play up a segment of an emotional range that is unpleasant to watch and doesn't use the actress' talents to their full potential. (Apparently that brief stint in human resources scarred me for life.) It's especially stupid with a character like Cuddy, because it defies logic that anyone would have handed her responsibility in the first place. Airborne wasn't all bad, of course. The mini-team was great, Fran was sweet, Robin interacting with Wilson was interesting. Even Cuddy's wacked-out performance featured a couple of good moments - Cuddy and House debating the antibiotics, and I can't actually make up my mind about the weird sniffing thing. (Hot? Creepy? Kinda both at the same time?) But again, playing to strengths.

Lully- 08-20-2007

Airborne bothers me to no end!!! I like the Wilson/ducks and Wilson/Robin parts, but House and Cuddy on that plane makes me want to scream... A crew member will never, ever, ask for a doctor in that situation - a passager vomiting during a flight? Yes, that's unusual! And there was only one stewardess in that cabin? And she knew what each one of the passagers eat? Amazing! What was the company again? I'm sure that I felt exactly like all the lawyers during the Tritter arc!

I agree, I was so proud of him. As for their reluctance, I think it was just because he's not their direct boss, but the hesitation was only momentary, and I really loved all the Wilson/Foreman stuff in the ep. The ducklings in Airborne reminded me of kids who get a substitute teacher and don't really respect them at first until they put their foot down and show them who is boss. I've done some subbing in the past so I couldn't help thinking that was kind of cute. My mom is absolutely convinced that Wilson had no idea that Robin was a hooker at the end but I totally disagree. I think he knew exactly what she was.
