The hatred for this episode makes me feel like the people who actually liked ODOR must feel when they read the comments on it. LOL I *really* liked this episode. Maybe it's because the whole baby-hand-grab thing didn't bother me at all. It didn't affect me at all.
I liked the POTW and the Chase/Cameron stuff. "I always glow" was a great scene.

I can see being annoyed by it, certainly. The baby-hand-grab was unrealistic, but House's reaction is normal for pretty much anybody. A lot of people like seeing House as exclusively an asshole, but that's just as stereotypical as "asshole with a heart of gold." He is a person, and as schmaltzy as the moment was, House reacted realistically: he made an offhand remark to cover it up and didn't mention it to anyone. C'mon guys, imagine if it happened to you. I hate children and I still liked that bit.
What bothered me most was the PotW, actually. I hate it in House when patients demand that he make them better. The whole "I won't sign and it's YOUR JOB to pull some procedure out of your ass to bow to my capricious wish." It just seems so childish. If your doctor gives you his best medical opinion--this may just be me but--YOU FOLLOW IT! Where's your MD, huh?
*Sigh* Fortunately, House manages to pull off the crazy. That's why he's House.

I absolutely hated the POTW, I was so annoyed and dissapointed that she lived. I'm trying very hard to come up with something that I liked about this episode and can't think of any. I don't hate it as much as ODOR, but it comes close.
edited to add that I just checked my LJ entry on this episode and there was nothing positive in it. I remembered that correctly lol.

I hated it more than ODOR. Let's see, something good, something good...Cameron getting annoyed at House's lack of reaction to her screwing Chase was highly amusing and the ducklings running to Wilson to deal with Cuddy, I love that they're such children some times.

The hand-grabbing-baby was ridiculous and nastily manipulative. I was so disappointed with that bullshit and blocked it out as soon as the episode ended.
There should be a mandatory minimum of H/W per episode. Every writer aiming lower should be taken out and shot.

I second this motion. What kind of crap was that? See, now I'm getting all ticked off again just thinking about it. I'm just going to back to believing that this ep. never happened. At least Airborne had an excuse as to why they had no interaction. FP has no excuse, NO EXCUSE

Want a drink, I have found that it helps me forget that this crappy episode excists

I'm quite contrary, so I like this episode since I was able to see more of the vivacious Cuddy instead of soporific Wilson. Any episode that does that is automatically better, IMO.

You say vivacious, I say annoying, weak, and whiny. NOT how I like to see Cuddy, but each his own.
Want a drink
Unfortunately I'm a couple of years too young for that. :( .

Have a lemonade then :D
Airborn  I blocked that one out too. You're all giving my panic attacks

Exactly my problems with the Cuddy in this and in Airborne(which is also on my hate list)

WORD. She's one of the few women characters I really respect on TV and those eps almost destroyed it for me. I'll thank TPTB to force feed me no more of that crap this season. I want strong, sassy Cuddy back. She's fun. She's one of the few women that can pull it off without coming off as a b*tch, a line that Cameron has crossed with no hope of ever getting back.

I had to do an effort to remember something about this episode :? I mix FP with Top Secret, don't know why...
Then I remember the baby hand! No H/W! Emo!Annoying!Cuddy! Whoever said that it's worst than ODOR is probably right :(

Hey, at least OD,OR had the awesome H/W scenes, Chase being all hilarious and extra-pretty!House. This episode had another annoying POTW and scary!Cuddy. Ick.
Taiga- 09-04-2007
Chai, what bothered me about the baby hand wasn't House's reaction which I agree was perfect for him. What bothered me is that they perpetuated that goddamned urban legend to yank at the audience's heart strings. The baby isn't awake during the surgery! That's the whole point of anesthesia! That drove me crazy.

While I can understand the frustration (I'm assuming from your posts that you're in the medical field yourself), ultimately it is the patient's choice. How many of us have had a doctor lie to you, refuse to give you information you ask for, insist on doing something you don't want or refuse to believe you about your symptoms or illness simply because he's the doctor and that means he knows everything? I have. Now the "you have to come up with something better" thing does make me roll my eyes too sometimes. "I don't want chemo because it will make my hair fall out. Find another way to treat my cancer or I'll die." Fine, die then.
