1.10 Histories
From tv.com: Dr. Foreman believes an uncooperative homeless woman is faking seizures to get a meal ticket at the teaching hospital. But her homelessness strikes a personal chord with Dr. Wilson and he grows determined to keep her from falling between the cracks. Her worsening symptoms prove to be a complex mystery for House and his team, but the mystery of her identity and medical history may hold the answers to saving her life. Just as the team suspects she has contagious meningitis, the woman goes missing, only to be tasered by the police, who bring her back. But House deduces the taser may have proven yet another diagnosis, with dire results. Meanwhile, House has an audience of two medical students who are learning how to do case studies.

Oh Histories, how I love you. Lots and lots of Wilson, Wilson backstory which sadly seems to be forgotten since, great medical case imo.

I love this episode. And hey, TPTB, this has been the only Wilson!backstory episode ever. And it's early S1. Tisk. What's up with that? Am I the only one who thought that the 'James' in the POTW's story was Wilson on first viewing?

this has been the only Wilson!backstory episode ever I'd put House Training in Wilson!backstory too, actually. Am I the only one who thought that the 'James' in the POTW's story was Wilson on first viewing? Yes, I thought that too, but I believe that was deliberate, to make the whole story more intriguing. Anyway, this was my favorite episode from season one for a long time, until Babies & Bathwater. And I still have a big love for it!

Am I the only one who thought that the 'James' in the POTW's story was Wilson on first viewing? It crossed my mind, yes. But then I realized that TPTB aren't that nice to us. They wouldn't give us Wilson backstory if they can help it! :(

Taiga- 09-21-2007

I thought the James thing was to show the similarity and difference between Wilson and the patient, why he felt so strongly about her case. She was a homeless person looking for a lost James. Another James is looking for a lost homeless person.

This was a good episode, lifted into the superior ranks by the powerful scene in which Foreman offers absolution to the dying woman through (lying) words of consolation and deeds of comfort. Foreman's hand-holding with the doomed patient was echoed in season 3 in "Housetraining," which deftly paralled this episode in many important ways. This episode and this heartrending scene are what hooked me on "House" for good.

Ever notice how the eps about Foreman also give us background on Wilson? There's Historites and House Training. I just thought that was kind of interesting, was it done on purpose? Coincidence?

Except for Euphoria, which had a pitiful amount of Wilson. But yeah, Wilson's big episodes seem to often be accompanied by lots of Foreman, at least. I still love this episode, truly. That last scene will always hold a special place in my heart. "That's relevant". Le sigh.

That last scene will always hold a special place in my heart. "That's relevant". Le sigh. That is so true, poor Wilson even has to share his own background episodes. *sigh* That last scene in Histories is pure love and might have been when I slowly started to move to the dark side

This is a really good point, Lightmycandle. I think that through the three seasons so far, Foreman has been specifically designed as a foil for both House and Wilson, drawn so that each of the three men underscore characteristics in one another. This is why, rather than hating on Foreman, I love it whenever he turns up: I learn so much more about House (and Wilson) from every scene with Foreman. But I realize that YMMV drastically.

Hail the Random- 10-14-2007

Does anyone know what street that House and Wison are on in the last scene?

Lully- 10-18-2007

I saw the episode last night for the... I lost track of how many times I already saw it... :o Anyway, there's no indication on what street they are, HTR.

Thanks, Lully.
