1.09 DNR
From tv.com: Legendary jazz musician John Henry Giles is checked into the hospital and when he's told he's dying from ALS, he signs a DNR to avoid a slow death. House disagrees with the diagnosis and goes against everyone's wishes when he violates the DNR to save Giles' life. The decision lands House in court, drives Foreman to consider taking another job, and results in Giles' paralysis worsening. But when the patient inexplicably starts getting better, the team has to figure out the mystery in reverse and find out why his condition is improving. Meanwhile, Dr. Foreman meets with an old friend who offers him a West Coast partnership.

I just rewatched this and noticed two things that didn't mean anything at the time, but in light of later episodes... I guess they do occasionally get the continuity right. 1. When John Henry collapses, House comes into the room and wants to know why they aren't intubating him. He gives his cane to Chase and goes to do the intubation himself at which point Chase closes the door to the room. It reminded me of the euthanasia scene in Informed Consent where Cameron and Foreman leave and Chase closes the blinds. 2. The entire House/Foreman confrontation scene reminded me of what Foreman forgot during the end of S3 and in 97 Seconds -- House: I hold you accountable, so what? Foreman: Dr. Hamilton forgives. He’s capable of moving on. House: That is not what he does! Foreman: I screwed up his case. He told me – House: He never said you were forgiven. I was there. He said it wasn’t your fault. Foreman: So? House: So, it was. You took a chance. You did something great. You were wrong, but it was still great. You should feel great that it was great. You should feel like crap that it was wrong. That’s the difference between him and me. He thinks you do your job, and what will be, will be. I think that what I do and what you do matters. He sleeps better at night. He shouldn’t.
